Experienced percussionist with a passion for teaching beginners and intermediate students. All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I can teach any percussion instrument, however I specialize in marching percussion, concert snare, timpani, and basic mallet percussion. We will focus on basic fundamentals, technique, and overall musicianship; and we will progress towards more advanced concepts such as sight reading and complex musical arrangements. I am excited to help you not only build your musical skills, but also develop a love for percussion!

Whatever your level, we will dive into great studies of classic fundamentals, technique refinement, mature tone quality, and of course music that YOU love to play.

I have 5+ years playing in many genres from singers-songwriter to various latin ensembles to eclectic rock bands on Cajon, Djembe, Conga, Bongo, and Frame Drum. Studied split-hand technique with world famous percussionist Jamey Haddad on Frame Drum.

Garrett is a DJ, producer, drummer, educator, and business owner based in Los Angeles, and San Diego, CA. In addition to working with jazz ensembles and symphonies, he performs regularly with local pop/rock bands, and works as a freelance DJ under the moniker “Seth Vitál”. Garrett has a B.A. in Music from the University of California, San Diego, where he studied under two-time Grammy award-winning producer/arranger Kamau Kenyatta, and was awarded the university's 2017 Jazz Society Award. His performances have allowed him to open for acts such as Khalid, DJ Mustard, Schoolboy Q and Bad Suns.

In addition to performing, Garrett maintains private studios in North Hollywood and East San Diego County where he produces his own music/DJ mixes, composes for various high schools, and teaches DJing, drum set, and percussion to over 20 weekly private students.
