The guitar is an incredibly fun instrument. It takes only three chords to unlock hundreds of well known songs. I have been helping many people learn new songs and techniques for over ten years, in turn I have made many friendships, I have traveled, and gained a good amount of knowledge and experience to pass on to you. The lessons I offer will be unique to each student based on your interests and pace of learning.

About William

Welcome to my profile! My name is William Beck. Most people call me Billy. I have been teaching mainly guitar and songwriting here and there for over 11 years. I started playing guitar at age eleven. I began writing my own songs at age thirteen and haven't stopped since. I am an artist above all

Just had my first lesson with Billy and it was fantastic! He created the perfect balance of learning something enjoyable that I would be excited to go home and practice along with things that I had skipped over and knew I needed to re-visit in order to improve. I was impressed with his ability to quickly gauge my skill level and prior music knowledge so it didn’t feel mundane but challenged me just the perfect amount. Excited for our next lesson already!

Billy helped me understand what i wanted out of music and tailored the lesson to do just that...started w the basics but then let me direct whete i wanted to take my playing...easy going and made it so much fun....i would recommend him to anyone at the beginner/intermediate level, as he is adept at getting to know who u are as a player and goes at the appropriate pace....great teacher!

I have been taking lessons from Michael for about 9 months, and it has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. He is an excellent guitar player, and instructor. He is patient, thorough, and very willing to pace his instruction with the ability of the student. I am in my late 50's and he is just the person I had hoped for in a teacher. I consider going to lesson not a chore, but a pleasure.

I have been teaching Guitar since 2012 in a wide variety of settings, styles, and age groups. It is never too early or late to begin leaning guitar!

I tailor my teaching approach for the specific needs and goals of each student, always putting their priorities first. While I am versed in theoretical approaches and using method books like the Hal Leonard series, I am also fluent in working on contemporary music with a focus on ear training and improvisation.

"Taking lessons with Jared is a true gift; one that inevitably sends me out the door in better spirits then when I come in.
Jared is knowledgeable, experienced, respectful, flexible, funny, sensitive, patient, humble and kind.
I most appreciate his flexibility and understanding towards where I am in the moment, and believe that the ability for a teacher to meet the student where they're at is a true art.
I came to him for lessons in guitar, and am learning so much more. I have improved my skills on guitar, my understanding of theory, my confidence in song-writing, my awareness of the music industry, my comfort in singing, etc.!
Most importantly for me, is that taking lessons with Jared helps me be accountable to my own dreams of being a musician and he helps me take that seriously by celebrating the small victories and always being respectful to my ideas and efforts.
Jared has helped elevate and encourage my musicianship most importantly by simply being humble, human and easy to work with!
He shares his love of music and his joy in his students' progress, and he creates a community of learners that respect and cheer for each other at regular performances.
I am confident that Jared can help you learn what you want to learn, that you'll end up having fun and learning something you weren't expecting to learn along the way, and that he is humble enough to say if he ever gets stumped by a question and you'll end up learning something new together.
Have fun!"

"Great Teacher

I'm a beginner and Jeff has great patience with me. He let me catch up lessons at my speed and makes sure I'm playing well.
I'm also learning to read music from him.
He is very encouraging and patiently clears any doubts I have while playing. He points out mistakes and makes sure I clear it before going to the next lesson. I look forward to my lessons with him every week as it makes me happy and more confident while I play guitar."

"First time meeting with Daniel today. Amazing guy, very humble, and I really feel welcome. He makes the adjustment for you. The first lesson is fun, its just like I'm talking to my long time friend that I haven't seen for a very long time, I feel like learning how to play a guitar is not hard at all, you just need the right person to guide you through it, and that is Daniel. Looking forward for the next lessons and more to come.

Learning to Play Guitar in Tampa

By Billy W. - Tampa Guitar Teacher

The first few months of your Tampa guitar lessons are no doubt exciting. Yet as the weeks progress, it will dawn on you that playing the guitar is not as easy as playing Guitar Hero. Your amount of practice time will begin to dwindle and as the weekly assignments get harder, you become less prepared for lessons. So, what can you expect after a few months of Tampa guitar lessons?

A new student should be able to play 3 chords, switch between chords, play/make up simple grooves, make up melodies, jam with the instructor, and play one or two songs from start to finish. Having said that, keep in mind that it takes time to master new skills and build the muscles needed to play the guitar. Setting a foundation of time will help keep you from getting frustrated when a challenge seems to slow you down. Challenges will confront us, but they are also signs that we are growing.

Stop fearing mistakes - mistakes will happen, but it’s all part of the learning process. The difference between you and Jack White is that he doesn’t dwell on the mistakes and keeps playing. He is so good at playing the guitar that we think he never makes mistakes. If we cultivate an attitude of not caring about making mistakes, we will find ourselves making fewer. Like my teacher once told me, “Play the mistake two more times and everyone will think you did it on purpose.” This should give you an idea of what to expect from your Tampa guitar lessons. I hope you find this article useful and encouraging, and that you continue to grow as a guitar student.
