I have written many songs myself but have only recently found time to begin recording them. I applaud anyone pursuing this self expression and will be happy to assist them.

Mrs. Hauck is an excellent piano instructor, she focuses on technique and the historical value of the music she teaches to create greater depth and connection with each lesson. Mrs. Hauck is extremely approachable and sensitive to Andrea’s pace and learning abilities, she explains each lesson thoroughly and I couldn’t be happier to have her as my daughter’s instructor.
Andrea wanted to be part of the review and wrote the below:

I am a student of Mrs. Mary. I have been doing piano with her for over a year. She is very good at explaining the material when I am confused, she takes the time to make sure I know what I am about to play. Mrs. Mary is very patient, she does not get mad or frustrated when I do not play the piano piece correctly, she just tells me to play it again and explains what mistakes I made. Mrs. Mary is very kind and caring. She is a very good piano teacher!

I have experience playing saxophone for 25 years. I've studied with some of the worlds greatest music educators and incorporated their techniques with my own. I hold a Masters of Music from Manhattan School of Music where I studied Jazz Saxophone with Bob Mintzer and Composition from Dr. Mark Stambaugh. My experience as a performer ranges from playing in Jazz Clubs in New York City, to traveling the world on Carnival Cruise Lines, and orchestra Pitts in Las Vegas.

Thanks for letting me provide a reference for Alex. I have taken alto sax lessons from him over the years, starting about 4-5 years ago. Alex is a great musician and teacher. Each lesson was consistently structured for: sound quality and listening, technical work and reading, duets, and improvisation. Rather than heavy music theory, he would instead provide routines to reinforce these concepts. He was always patient, and emphasized what I did well, with subtle redirection to correct problems. I definitely improved under his guidance and teaching.

The only reason I stopped seeing him was that my job became very demanding, and I could not devote enough time to practice and justify the time and cost of lessons. But even when I showed up unprepared, he was understanding and flexible to work with me.

If it would have been possible to have Alex come to me, I would have welcomed that.

I've been working with Trevor for just over a year. His teaching goes beyond just dry technique and theory to answer the question "why am I doing this?" When you work with Trevor, there is purpose behind everything you do. He starts with your big picture goals and breaks them down into actionable steps that you can take feeling like it's going somewhere. This makes for way more efficient and exciting practice sessions. If you don't know exactly where you want to go with your playing, Trevor will help you find that as well.

Trevor is an amazing teacher! He works with you to make a plan to learn whatever interests you. I can bring in any kind of music or style of playing and he will help me learn all of the elements. He is happy to go as far into theory as you want or stay more high level. Also has been very helpful in transitioning from learning tunes to writing and recording my own songs. Highly recommend.

I've learned so much in the short couple months taking lessons from him. I would recommend him to anyone of any skill level. Very helpful and kind. :)

"I took a songwriting class that Kit taught at Schenectady County Community College, and it was a lot of fun and extremely helpful! She knows tons about all sorts of song genres both as a composer and a lyricist, and helped me understand a lot of basic ideas about music composition that I'd never really grasped. I would study with her again if she were back in town!"

"I was looking for a teacher who could help me hone in on my songwriting skills, and was so excited when I found Brittany! Not only was she able to help me improve my songwriting, but she helped with my singing in my lessons too! She is definitely the perfect teacher if you are looking to work on both. She also taught me how to use the Nashville Numbers System to chart my songs and be able to communicate well with my band. I take lessons in Brittany's home, which is in a great location and is really nice. I feel very safe there (her complex is gated) and always love going to see her!"

"I was really nervous about my performance of an original pop-song for my concert coming up in school. Things weren't working out with my previous teacher and that's when I found Taylor! She guided me through pairing the music with my lyrics, but in a way that really made me feel confident in what I was making! Taylor is super fun and easy to work with and when we weren't writing... we were cracking dad jokes! XD I performed the song at my school concert and I couldn't have been happier with the result! I definitely recommend Taylor and want to work with her soon again :3"

"Working with Fawn on my songs the past 3 years has been a complete blessing. What used to be disorganized thoughts have been turned into lyrics and songs. I never thought I'd see the day when my songs would be ready to be recorded in a studio. Also, it's cool to be working with a coach who is current. (She just won for the Great America Song Contest last month). With all the awards she has won and career success she's had, she is still humble and really cares about her students progress and own careers. I love working with her and look forward to continuing."

Lyrically Stuck? Think Like Eddie Vedder

Earlier this week, Eddie Vedder announced the venues for his upcoming solo tour, stopping in 13 cities to promote his 2011 album "Ukelele Songs." The tour begins on April 11th in Las Vegas, and then works across the country, ending on May 16th in Orlando.  Pearl Jam embarks on its European tour just one month after. Vedder's passion-filled lyrics, ranging in topics from personal to political, have made him one of the most prominent songwriters of the rock-and-roll genre.  Pair that with his …
