I have over 13 years of teaching experience as well as a graduate degree in education.

I can help you to soften your accent to blend in to your community of choice more easily by providing exercises, practice techniques, and memory mnemonics that will help you find the voice you want to use.

In my speech classes, I have worked with many people to reduce their accents over the years, and have been extremely successful.

Do you have trouble being understood by others due to a dialect or accent? I can help with that. Accent reduction is about understanding the patterns of the sounds and structures in the desired accent. I specialize in accent reduction using Standard American English. This is not about taking away your individuality, but about how to utilize a standard English dialect to help you be taken more seriously and be more understood during times when this could inhibit your success.

New York State Certification, including Spanish and Bilingual Spanish Endorsements. Native Spanish proficiency. Tutor Spanish and have taught Spanish at UMUC and other educational institutions.

With English, I have taught English Composition, College Composition, College Writing, Public Speaking, and Interpersonal Communication at the college level.

This is one of my absolute passions! Did you know that “regionally specific dialects” change approximately every 20 miles? Part of my vocal training included a deep dive into dialects or accents, how to master them and how to lose them. This is so much easier than you may think! It’s all about small modifications, mostly in the mouth and jaw that can completely change the way you sound.

How many sessions you need really depends on how much work you’re willing to put in between sessions. I can give you the keys, but this is really a case of practice makes perfect.
