We will learn isometric exercises to strengthen the muscles and develop kinaesthetic awareness. Playing scales, arpeggios and etudes will develop our technique and help us deepen our understanding of music theory.

We will apply our skills to learning a varied repertoire of your choice. You will be equally proficient at playing with sheet music and improvising by ear!

I have been teaching piano for 15 years and have a passion for studying the great pianists of the past. As an instructor, it is my privilege to guide students through the classic literature at all stages of development. A student of the piano is foremost a student of music; and a general familiarity with the works of the masters, e.g. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, is essential for cultivating good taste.

I offer one-hour in-person piano lessons once or twice weekly. Students are expected to practice daily for a minimum amount of time determined by the teacher.

Landis Piano Studio is a member of the Orlando Music Club, and the National Federation of Music Clubs. All students, therefore, have the opportunity to participate in the annual NFMC Festivals.

About Kenneth

Born in Orlando, FL, Kenneth Landis graduated from Rollins College in 2013 where he studied Piano under Dr. Gary Wolf and composition under Dr. Daniel Crozier. Mr. Landis won first place in the Wednesday Music Club Piano Competition as well as an honorable mention in the Bradshaw and Buono Internati

As of June 2019, we switched from an in-studio lesson to an online one. It was amazing how both my, at that time 9-year old, son and Enoch adjusted to one another, how Enoch was able to find the weaknesses and strengths, along with my son's fields of interest. How he was able to communicate with him about fun stuff but redirect him back to his lesson smoothly. We continue to take lessons with Enoch even though we have moved to the Netherlands and Enoch is still in the USA. He is a keeper. :)

John is a fantastic instructor. He has a love for educating others on musical expression and he is a wellspring of musical knowledge. He provides a depth to the piano that I wouldn't have noticed if I taught myself how to play.

John emphasized how to shape musical phrases to make music as opposed to a collection of notes. He had a good ear for honing in on my weaknesses such as how some notes that I played stuck out or the movement of my arms. Most importantly, he taught me how to approach practicing the piano in an effective way. I learned how to listen to myself and how give each note, phrase, and piece the attention and musicality it needed to sound beautifully.

For an adult learner as myself, he was accommodating with how busy I was. He adjusted to my needs and work schedule and taught at a reasonable pace. However, he also never veered from his expectations and praised what I was doing right and provided methods to fix what I was doing wrong.

Although there were times when John expressed his passion for music by delving into tangents on the broader historical significance of pieces, his mini-lectures were never irrelevant nor inappropriate. For example, he commented on how in waltzes, the rhythm on the left hand would need to emulate how a Romantic era string section would play it. For anyone who is serious about how or why pieces of music are meant to be played in a certain way, John is great about contextualizing pieces to make them sound great.

Most importantly, he made practicing piano something that was both enjoyable and challenging, which is difficult to find in a teacher. I owe a great deal of my musicianship to John and he met my expectations of learning the piano. Thank you!
Kenny
John is really great. He takes the time to understand what your goals are and teaches according to your needs. He is patient and provides constructive comments.

I've been playing piano for almost as long as the bass, my primary instrument. Piano offers amazing flexibility to make multiple voices sound out at once, and it's important to so many genres. I can teach reading music, hand independence, improvisation, and especially how to play jazz piano chords.

About Quentin

I go to the University of Georgia for Double Bass Performance. I've spent about 11 years learning and sharing everything I can about this wonderfully complex instrument. So many genres of music can be played on the double bass, and once you add my secondary instrument, the bass guitar, you're a nece

"Ryan is my daughter’s piano teacher, and she looks forward to her lessons every week with him. She is 10 years old. He focuses on ear training, and site reading with note recognition, as well as rhythms and time signature, but he really delves deeply into the theory of music with her, something not all piano teachers would do with the 10-year-old. When she joined a band at school, we found out that she truly understands the structure of the key signature, and how to count out 16th notes!! Very impressive :-). Feel free to contact me anytime for further questions, I would give him my highest recommendation."

"My 11 yr old daughter has worked with Jesse for three years. She has had lessons on piano, ukulele, bass, rock guitar, trumpet, trombone, voice and drums! This is a kid that loves exploring different instruments, and Jesse has been so flexible in having his teaching style meet up with her learning style. She has a great deal of fun learning from and jamming with him, but he also pushes her to stretch and grow as an overall musician (music theory, voice development, physical strength to support different instruments). As you learn songs, you acquire so much more than the song itself. We highly recommend Jesse!"
