I've been teaching acoustic guitar for 7 years (since I was a teen myself!). Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to read and play from basic tabs, and as time goes on we can work on songs you pick yourself. I generally don't teach guitar students to read sheet music unless they ask; this is because in the "real world" of playing musicians, guitarists rarely use actual sheet music except in a classical setting. I specialize in beginner and intermediate acoustic, pop, country and fingerpicking style. Students should have and bring their own guitar. I will work with students ages 6+, but I recommend waiting until close to age 10 for guitar, as it requires some hand size/strength to reach many chord shapes. Ukulele is a fun option for smaller kids 6+ and I teach that too!

About Maya

- I am classically trained in piano and music theory (attended college for both from the age of 15) and have a strong emphasis on music theory and good technique in my lessons, but I also understand the importance of ear training. I practice with and encourage each student in developing relative pi

When we realized that our daughter Veronica enjoyed singing and showed keen interest in music, we decided to put her through some formal training in vocals. One of our friends referred us to Ms. Denise.

Ms. Denise is an excellent teacher. She taught our daughter vocals for almost two years. Our daughter had the most wonderful time with her. She focuses on strong fundamentals, instills confidence in students and makes the whole experience enjoyable.

Patient, good humored, and knows her stuff. This was a brilliant first lesson and I am thrilled with the outcome, already on to a full song challenging me to do transitions and tempo. She is great at working with the student to find out where they need help and when they can go fast.

I have taught more than 100 students from age of 3 to 65 over years of my teaching experience both privately and at schools such as Juliet Music, PianoVerse and Japanese Children's Society, Inc. I also worked as a program manager of lessons and coordinated recitals where 30 to 40 students performed on stage.

I started piano at the age of 4 but completely stopped when I was 10 due to lack of interest and patience. 6 years later, I somehow resumed piano and gradually became serious about it. As a late starter, it was not easy to acquire skills and catch up with other pianists, but I studied Classical Piano performance at Aaron Copland School of Music and graduated with departmental honor.

If you have a similar experience of quitting piano, we are a perfect match. Video lesson would be good too as long as you can read notes by yourself!

About Yusuke

If you have stopped piano at one point in your life and are thinking of starting again, I can assure you that you should! It is never too late to start. I am here to assist you to learn basics, build up skills efficiently, and play a piece you dream of!

He gives really good feedback on projects that you might be working on. He is really well-versed in all aspects of music production - not only in sound design and mixing but also in songwriting and also can talk about difficult topics like inspiration and creativity in a unique way.
