I've been studying music for 10 years now. Having come to music later in life than most, I find that I am more empathetic to the perspective of the beginning student than many teachers. I spent the Summer of 2009 teaching music fundamentals to groups of severely physically and mentally disabled children of all ages. Since then I've completed my Bachelors degree in Music, taught privately and with several established music schools.

To me, music is above all about transformation. Beautiful sound transforms our experience of the environment, and learning an instrument can help students approach life as one big instrument they need to practice to master.
Learning to play an instrument is also an experience of training one’s nervous system to gradually act and respond in new ways, and that kind of persistent, focused
, training is applicable to any new skill.
Last and definitely not least, playing music is fun.

*** Lesson Details ***

I plan my lessons around getting students to enjoy playing music as soon as possible, whether that means learning how to strum a chord rhythmically, playing their favorite song, or how to take a blues solo.
There are steps that have to be climbed to do more complex things and I encourage students to practice a little every day rather than for a long time once or twice a week. Developing a love of music and steady practice habits are more beneficial over the long term than practicing until your limit.

Andrew is great, very patient. My son is five and Andrew was able to keep him focus on the task at hand, he makes the lesson so enjoyable that my Dimico was practicing long after Andrew left. We are looking forward to more lessons with him.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, at the age of 9, Natalie knew music was something that was just a part of who she was. Writing songs on the piano before lessons could be scheduled, Natalie found herself immersed in a medium that would bring her joy for the rest of her life.

By age 14 Natalie had won several trophies competing in Classical piano with the Illinois Music Association.

When did you begin playing [instrument], and why?:

I've been singing since I was about 8. I began to play piano when I was a teenager, because many of my classmates were very skilled at the piano, and I became inspired to be like them.

What are your personal goals as a musician?:

I love opera, and my goal is to compose my own. I plan on working closely with the librettist, since I'm a poet as well.

Do you have a memory of a time when a musical concept or technique really clicked? Something you'll remember forever?:

I never knew what perfect pitch was until I was much older. I also didn't realize I had perfect pitch until a professor at an audition made me aware of my ability. Since then, it's become a wonderful tool.

What is your favorite piece of advice from one of your past (or current) teachers?:

Being compassion

Anabelle has been involved with sounds and music from an early age. Her greatest forte is her hearing. When she was young, people thought she might become a voice actor, because her skill at replicating voices was quite apparent. Still, she loved to sing and had been regularly involved in choirs. She dabbled in violin in the fifth grade, but she didn't feel a "click." Without despairing, she tried her luck with piano and felt instantly in sync. She knew this was the right instrument for her. During her piano studies, she continued to work on her voice. In addition, she studied the workings of a sound board, and was head sound chief at her high school. At the college level, she began to pursue composition, while still continuing with piano and vocal studies. She holds an A.A. with a music focus (piano performance), a B.M. in music theory, and a M.M in music education from Boston University. She has been teaching music since 2006 and has worked with a wide range of ages and various group sizes. Her joy is working with people in a field that she is passionate about. I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and emigrated with my family to the United States, moving to Brooklyn in 1962 at the age of 9. I began my piano training in Brazil at the age of 7 and continued my studies in New York. I speak three languages fluently - English, Portuguese and Spanish.

After graduating high school, at the age of 17, I attended Hunter College briefly while continuing with piano lessons and had operatic training with a voice coach associated with the New York Metropolitan Opera. At this time, I also became a member of the Harry Belafonte Group, touring the tri-state area schools as a singer in a musical history presentation highlighting African influence on Brazilian music.

While continuing piano lessons at the Long Island Conservatory of Music, I found my passion for teaching while st
ill a student. During my early teaching career, I apprenticed with the conservatory's director, master teacher, composer and author of educational books, Sidney J. Lawrence. While shaping my philosophy of teaching, Mr. Lawrence became my mentor and friend. I taught 3-4 year olds in preschool music pedagogy classes while also teaching piano in a career that spans more than 30 years of working with children and adults at all levels.

I am able to adapt my teaching style to my students' unique way of thinking and communicate musical concepts in a way they can understand. I believe in not only teaching how to play the piano, but also the "language of music." This provides students with a holistic understanding that encompasses theory, technique, sight reading, basic composition, and performance, all while sharing my personal joy of music.

I now live in Clermont, FL after relocating from Georgia where I taught piano while also working as a substitute teacher for the Gwinnett County Public Schools and an academics tutor for K-12 levels.

Rosely is the most patient teacher I have ever had. She listens and takes into consideration what your goals are and helps you to accomplsh them. I waited a long time to find the right piano teacher and I knew instantly she was the one!

My children started lessons with Ms. Rosely when they were 5yrs. and 9yrs. old. They've been with her for almost a year and a half now, and love the piano! Her teaching style, relaxed but disciplined nature, and love of music, have been incredibly infectious. They look forward to each lesson, and love performing at the recitals she plans twice a year. We couldn't be prouder of their progress, and happier with their teacher and the experience she provides! Thank you Ms. Rosely!
