About Jessica
Music and the arts have been a large part of my life since I was a child.

I have performed in numerous operas, musicals and plays. Favorite roles include the Witch in Into the Woods, Agathe in Der Freischutz, the Countess in Marriage of Figaro, and Fastrada in Pippin.

I have a degrees in Opera Directing, Vocal Performance and Theatre Arts. I started teaching acting classes in 2001, and have coached voice since 2010. I have studied voice with James Gardner, former head of opera at Julliard School of Music, Matthew Oglesby, vocal area coordinator for the WTAMU School of Music, and Darlene Wiley, head of voice department at Butler School of Music, UT and William Lewis, dramatic tenor with 35 years experience singing at the Metropolitan Opera.

I direct operas, design costumes, teach whenever and whatever I can, and love spending
time with my cat.

About Tom
Hello everyone, I'm Tom.

I have always loved teaching people things that I enjoy, sharing my experience with others, and helping people realize their own potential.

I am a musician, a martial artist, and a general IT guru.

Music and martial arts runs in my family, and I was raised around them from a very young age.

As a child, I was always fascinated with computers, and had to know everything I could about them.

My teaching style is a bit unorthodox, focusing more on philosophy and personal introspection than traditional "memorize and practice" methods, and is very mind, body, and spirit oriented.

Feel free to ask me questions for more information.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I loved how she was soo detailed with it. And it wasn’t rushed she took her time to explain everything. If I was ever lost she would guide and I appreciate it.

Edward and I had a horrible time trying to connect via the Take Lessons interface. I could see and hear him but he couldn't hear me. This being interactive doesn't work. We futzed with it for about 20 minutes and then went to Skype, which worked perfectly. Take Lessons needs to get their act together on their interface.

Once connected via Skype, we had an almost instant "buddy" connection. Eddie is really pleasant and very good at working with what you have, which in my case is not much. We spent the first ten or so minutes with me hitting simple shots with the cue ball only so he could study my "technique." He immediate spotted about three flaws and we spent the next thirty or so minutes working on grip, alignment, open and closed bridge (left hand use for a right hander) and ball striking for an on line shot. From there he had me shooting a simple cut shot explaining how to aim it, hit the spot and pocket the ball. I must have hit that shot for him 30 times with only ONE miss. The whole time he was giving me feedback on minor corrections and positive reenforcement when I got something right. We finished the hour with him giving me practice instructions for the next week and a brief conversation about sticks and tips. It turns out I lucked out and bought what he called "an excellent entry stick".

I played a match with a friend right after the lesson and applied what Eddie had given me in our lesson. I made a lot of shots I would normally not have expected to make utilizing Eddies instruction. I still lost the match (my friend is highly advanced) but gave him more of a game than normal, and won two out of five. I'm very pleased.

Hello Artist-in-Progress,

We are all artists-in-progress because, no matter how good we are, we can always get better!

I'm Mr. Joey and I love art and I love teaching art! I am a graduate of The Art Institute and an artist and animator that creates art in pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and digital mediums.

I recommend that classes are *at least* 1.5 hours (and I really recommend 2 hours!) because that's what's needed to critique homework assignments, warmup, and do the work for the class, and not be rushed.

Classes I teach are:

• Drawing Fundamentals
• Advanced Drawing
• People and Anatomy
• Portrait Drawing
• Cartoon Characters for Animation
• Character Design
• 2D Animation
• Digital Painting in Photoshop
• Digital Animation

Please view samples of my work and contact me with any questions you may hav
e.

I look forward to helping you develop your art skills and express your creativity!

Mr. Joey

About Evan
I'm a career string quartet musician who loves both performing and teaching. I graduated with a Master of Music degree from McGill University in Viola Performance.

I've been lucky to have many amazing opportunities so far: I've performed in Carnegie Hall as a member of the New York String Orchestra Seminar; in Yokohama and Tokyo, Japan; and in Salzburg, Austria (the birthplace of Mozart!) as a member of the Milton String Quartet. I've also toured the USA and played in many parts of Canada. My favorite experience was winning the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the largest competition of its kind in North America!

My teaching experience is quite varied. I currently teach group classes to 3rd-5th graders here in NYC public schools. I've taught chamber music to teenagers in Indiana University's Summer String Academy and to adult lea
rners in Montreal.

To me, music is about community, and getting to play great music with close friends or family is one of the most rewarding experiences.

I also tutor chess: I grew up playing the game and my parents ran a chess club at my elementary school in rural Maine. Chess was pure fun growing up but now I see how valuable of a tool it is for teaching logic, strategy and critical thinking! I won the U.S. Open unrated division at the age of 16 with a USCF rating of 1600 and have competed in a number of other tournaments.

About Bruce
Bruce learned the game of chess in the late 60's, becoming a "Fischer Kid" during the 70's. In high school, he easily captured the team championships and represented his school until graduating in 1976.

He taught some of his fellow students to play and improve in their games during this time and enjoyed sharing his joy of the game with others. Although life has sent him in many directions career-wise, he has never strayed far from chess.

In addition to chess, Bruce has played semi-pro football and is also now a dance instructor. His understanding of working with body and mind to create the best you makes him a unique choice in mentoring young students about chess and life in general. His enthusiasm for life and the activities he teaches are contagious and he hopes that each of his students enjoy the time with him enough to "pass
it forward" to others!

Hello, my name is Joy. I grew up in Santa Cruz, California and spent 10 years in Kelso, Washington. After suffering in the cold, dark, rainy, cold, and rainy North West, I retreated back to my sunny home town Santa Cruz where I've been happily residing for the last two years. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, yoga, cake decorating, spending time with my family, and studying Japanese. I hope to impact lives and change the world! I believe that everyone has a purpose in life and no one is too insignificant to matter.
