I have been teaching guitar for 23 years. I emphasize the details of good technique and reading music skills. You will learn and develop the basics so that you can progress to any style of music you would like to play. Picking and finger style guitar are both offered. Begin making music on the guitar today!

I like to make lessons fun and engaging for my students. Practicing for the sake of practicing doesn't yield usually leave a lasting love for playing music. I'm passionate about helping my students figure out what kind of music they enjoy or connect with and giving them the tools and techniques needed to play their favorite songs and styles - and also be able to play with their friends. I'm happy to go as deep into theory as the student wants to go. Learning the guitar changed my life because it gave me a new way to connect with people, and I started playing in churches and bands at a young age. My hope is to help my you or your child develop a love and mastery of your instrument!

David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.

David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!

Wether you are shooting for the Hollywood Bowl or just playing around the camp fire, I am here to help you reach your goals! We will work on everything from learning chords and melodies to basic theory and your favorite tunes.
