My name is Jo-Anne. I am so thankful to my mother who pushed me and allowed me to learn how to play the piano! I remember when I started private piano lessons how much I disliked it! My teacher realized this and began to appeal to my strengths. I ended up having fun and I want to ensure that same e

Hello fellow singers! My goal is to help you refine your own unique instrument and help you to express a story and art through the voice!
I grew up taking piano lessons and singing in my church and school choir. I always had a love for all classical music and soon enough fell in love with opera! I begin taking classical voice lessons at the age of 15 and soon realized that my heart and soul belonged to opera and had to continue my studies a lot more in depth.
I went to UCLA where I received my Bachelor of Arts with my emphasis in Opera Performance. Throughout the years spent at UCLA, I not only continued to sing with choral groups, but also performed in every opera. I sang one of the principles roles in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges, and sang one of the principles roles in many opera scenes such as Dorabella from Così fan tutte, Mercedes in Carmen, Second Lady in The Magic Flute, Nerone in L'incorazione di Poppea.
Since I graduated college I have collaborated with ...

I have been teaching professionally for 40 years. I also play professionally specializing in Classic Rock but I have also played in Italian, Jazz, Country, and Southern Rock bands. I've even played Organ for professional Hockey teams. Besides learning theory I encourage students to tell me what songs they want to play. I can create arrangements for their specific level. This can be Jazz, Pop, Rock, and anything written from 1920 to 2020.
I began taking lessons in 1961. I still practice today. Some of my accomplishments: Music Instructor Keys & Strings Music Studio Wallingford Ct. 2016-Present Organist For The Danbury Arena/Danbury Whalers Hockey Organization 2012-2014 Piano Tuner for Yale School of Drama, Albertus Magnus College, a

She quickly assessed where I was with my playing and identified quick and easy technical practices to enhance my technique as well as took in my own personal goals. I feel super motivated to practice and look forward to my next lesson with her. I'm so glad I found her!"
On a more personal note, a bit of how I met Cândida. I first started playing piano a long time ago but, after a couple of years, quit and never tried again. I had been willing to get back to classes for a while but hesitated several times. Cândida played a central role in encouraging me to do that and making me comfortable in this new beginning. Our connection was immediate and I have been taking lessons with her since then. During this time, it has also been very inspiring to learn from such a young yet experienced musician. Her method is very practical: although it is naturally easier to interact in in-presence, her Skype lessons really work. She has also been very flexible with regards to schedule. And, most importantly, always welcomes you to class with a bright Brazilian smile.
Again, could not recommend her more! Enjoy!"
Think you're too old to learn how to play the violin? Nonsense! Take a look as Los Angeles teacher Travis H. dispels the myth and explains why taking music lessons as a later age can actually be beneficial... The age at which a violinist begins playing is an interesting thing. Most of my violinist friends started when they were in elementary school, and just about everyone says that starting at an early age is the right thing to do. The music bug didn’t bite me until I was 16, and …
