The saxophone is a very versatile instrument, so we can start at the beginning, go through method books and solos and even get into jazz!

About Dan

I am a retired band director with thirty-two years of experience. Many of my former students have gone on to great careers, including a band director in Texas, district manager of a Guitar and Drum Center store and even a trumpet player with the Army in Korea! Mr. A. has a talent for teaching that makes it a privilege to be one of his students. Our son has been thoroughly enjoying the time under his tutelage, and continues to do so via video while in-house is not an option. The trumpet lessons have included trumpet technique, musical notation and reading, ear training, trumpet hygiene, and instrument care.
Mr. A. is a respectful, punctual, and precise teacher who inspires students to reach their potential.

Mr. Arnold has a very thorough knowledge of music and what it takes to physically create music. If you don't understand something one way, he will explain it in other way's that you do understand. He seems to have no limit to his patience and caring about his student's. A great sense of humor, a guy you would like as a neighbor.

Strong instrumental playing begins with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of music and the simple act of making a sound from the instrument. Students learn to play music by ear first, and are later introduced to music notation. More advanced lessons emphasize sight-reading, expression, and improvisation.

A woodwind player since age 10, Thomas has experience as a performer and teacher. His previous education has included methodology classes on teaching specific instruments, and he is available to teach intermediate and beginning saxophone lessons.

The first lesson was successful. My particular background in piano is unique, and my needs are atypical as well. I thought Thomas assessed my abilities, lack of abilities, and goals well and quickly. He started me on a different perspective on looking at music (reading the staff) that seems very helpful. I'm encouraged.

I graduated high school with scholarship, at the prestigious boarding school for the arts, called Interlochen Arts Academy. After that I graduated with my Associate's Degree in Music, from Miami Dade College under the direction of Rodester Brandon. Immediately after transferring from Miami Dade College, I auditioned and got accepted into the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington, with a very generous scholarship. I studied jazz performance under the direction of David Baker and Thomas Walsh. Right after I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree, I was ready to work. I started working as a musician for Royal Caribbean Cruises, where I got most of my performing experience outside of school.
I teach my students what they actually need to learn in order to "make it" as a musician in today's competitive music industry. With a strong music foundation and twenty-three years of experience, I can teach students how to survive as a performing musician.

About Elissa

My name is Elissa, and I am a multi-instrumentalist! Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I had the privilege of learning how to play music since age eleven. After graduating from the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Music, I went on to finish my Associate's Degree from Miami-Dade College, and

I had a great first lesson with Damien. He is patient and extremely considerate. Damien took the time to determine a baseline of my general knowledge. He answered my questions and fully explained the concepts that we discussed. At all times I felt that I was having a positive experience and I have set goals for my next lesson. I am energized and motivated to continue and look forward to my next lesson with Damien.
