I am currently teaching most piano lessons online. I am also available for a few in-person lessons in my home studio, if certain safety precautions are followed... more about that at the end of this section.
Whether your lessons are online or in person, a typical lesson with me will include things like this:
-The student plays what they have practiced, and we work on any difficult areas and techniques for playing better.
-I introduce new lesson material, asking questions to make sure my student understands.
-We work on music theory, sight reading, good posture, and helpful practice techniques.
-I expect my students to practice every day, just as I do. It is the only way to become proficient.

I started teaching piano and voice more than 12 years ago and since then, I have been spending most of my time teaching music. I love to combine my energy and passion for music with the enthusiasm and positive energy that different students with different personalities and musical ideas bring to the lessons. This always makes lessons the most enjoyable and useful for both children and adults.
I have been playing the piano since age 4 and have a great passion for performance as well as teaching. I prepare my students for performances and competitions at different levels. I teach all different genres of piano music, from classical to pop and jazz. I also teach classical singing method,

I have been playing piano since the age of six. Originally classically trained, I made a change to learning Jazz after hearing it on the radio one night while still in high school.
I began my teaching career in 2007, providing private piano instruction to beginners at a small, privately owned music school in Laurel, Maryland.
After the school closed it's doors in the Fall of 2011, I continued working with many of the students privately. It is these efforts I continue to this day.
Having the opportunity to work 1 on 1 with students and see their progression and development on a week to week basis is a truly, rewarding experience that I feel fortunate to be a part of.

For those who have never read music before! This is an introduction to the fundamentals of music theory: how to read, write, play, and understand rhythms, basic notation, basic harmony, and ear training. We will work on clapping exercises, learning easy piano melodies, and singing.
For kids that are taking music classes, I can also help with their homework assignments.

Last week, TakeLessons teacher Kevin B. showed us how to play 5 easy guitar chords that allow you to play tons of easy songs. Have you been practicing? Just as pianists should learn the theory behind scales, beginner guitar players should review individual chords to ensure a well-rounded foundation. After all, chords are the basis of guitar playing, so the more you know, the easier time you'll have learning songs. Instead of just memorizing each chord, go the extra mile to really unders …

Ready to start learning to play ukulele? Check out these easy ukulele chords from music teacher Raymond L. and you'll be strumming a tune in no time!
