I can help beginning students on bassoon learn the basics.

Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.
*** Lesson Details *** My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.
I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.
For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.
My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.
Thomas is honestly an amazing musician and teacher. He was really patient with me. Despite having to deal with major timezone differences (as I live in Myanmar), he took the time to figure it out. Also, he helped me figure out the stuff it took me months to figure out. He also really knows what he's doing. I learned so much in that hour of practice. 10/10 would recommend him.

I like to keep things positive in music lessons. Music is, after all, for fun and enjoyment! I like to blend teaching technique and musicianship, while keeping things fun.

Online lessons are a wonderful option! I am flexible with scheduling and allow changes up to 24-hours before a scheduled lesson. My home studio has chairs, music stand, and areas for parents to sit in on lessons. Garage band is available for recording. Students need an instrument and books.
Tina has provided our daughter 11 year old daughter with outstanding lessons as a beginning trumpet player this past summer! Not only was our daughter able to skip beginning band and be placed into the more advance concert band with the 1st trumpets, she received an invite from her well known director of bands to participate in the school’s Big Band. Our daughter is quickly improving on her playing skills.
Tina will always be remembered as the primary influence behind her aspirations to play the trumpet the right way!

I am a hardworking and passionate individual who loves music and loves teaching. I want to share my passion and interest for music with as many students as I can so that they can find new and different ways to express themselves. Chloe.. was excellent! My daughter learned a lot in just 30 minutes. She’s excited about her next lesson.

My daughters anxiety was high the first day of highschool for band. The students were seasoned and Lauryn had not practiced in months. Chloe eased Lauryn’s nerves and gave her the confidence she needed in just the 1st lesson! She’s awesome!
I am an active performer and teacher of bassoon, and am still an active learner on my instrument. Lessons with me are fun, engaging, and informative on this unique and often difficult instrument. I strive for my students to love the bassoon and enjoy working on their craft, whether a beginning band student or an aspiring professional. I earned my Bachelors of Music in Bassoon Performance from Sacramento State University and am currently earning my Masters of Music in Bassoon Performance at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. I also can help with reed making and adjusting, I make all of my own reeds and have for years.
Jack Fanning has been teaching the bassoon since 2015. He is currently available to teach lessons online, or at the student’s home (and is ready and willing to travel within the NC Triad area). Jack aims to make each lesson fun, enjoyable, educational, and informative. He has helped middle school and high school students win positions in youth orchestras and honor bands in California and North Carolina.
Jack studied bassoon performance with Dr. David Wells at California State University, Sacramento and studied bassoon performance with Dr. Michael Burns at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. The tutelage of these great bassoonists fostered a love of music education and sharing the magic of bassoon playing with younger students.
Jack holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Music Theory from University of North Carolina, Gree
nsboro. His training specifically focused on pedagogy of music theory and the study of current trends in music theory.
Jack is an accomplished bassoon reed maker and makes his reeds available to purchase for his students. The importance of a good reed to a young bassoonist is paramount; it is key to making great music and being successful from day to day.
Our daughter was amazed and in "Ah" with all she learned in just her first lesson with Jack. It was fantastic to see her excitement again for private lessons. So excited she wanted to continue playing and practicing even after the session. Thank you, Jack! She wanted me to let you know she is looking forward to many more days like this!😁👍

Jack is a friendly, encouraging instructor---a great match for my 11-year-old daughter. He's obviously an expert bassoonist, but does a fantastic job of explaining things clearly and simply for the less-advanced student. My daughter can't wait for her next bassoon lesson with Jack!

Very knowledgeable and friendly, and a great communicator about bassoon technique. Today was my daughter’s first lesson with Jack - She learned so much and has some good assignments to work on before the next lesson. We totally recommend Jack as an instructor!
I'm a Bassoon player with 12 years of experience. I have teach, played in orchestras, chamber groups and as a soloist artist.
I am a professional bassonist. I graduated from Vicente Emilio Sojo Music Conservatory (Barquisimeto - Venezuela) with a Bachelors of Music, specifically Bassoon.
The Bassoon is one of the most beautiful instruments but also one of the difficultest to play. Every bassoon player has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to play with freedom, confidence, and expression.
I teach bassoon students of all different ages and experience levels, or even begginers. I studied classical bassoon for 10 years.
I've play in different orchestras, chamber groups and also as a soloist player in numerous occasions. So I can help students to be prepared for any audition or concert they have scheduled.
My personal passion is clas
sic music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
I am an experienced private bassoon teacher and performer of orchestral, chamber, and solo music. In addition to teaching bassoon, I aim to supplement lessons with instruction of music theory. I am an avid bassoon reed maker and will happily provide high quality reeds to students at an affordable cost.
I am a bassoonist from California living in New York City, and I am graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Bassoon Performance from New York University in May 2019. In addition to studying music, I also freelance in the New York area and enjoy performing a wide range of music with orchestras, wind ensembles, and chamber ensembles. Having studied music and music performance for many years, I am aware that not all students learn the same way. As such, I enjoy getting to know students and identifying the most efficient yet comfortable way for them to learn this instrument. I aim for students not just to gain knowledge about the instrument, but to become thoughtful and adventurous musicians as well. As such, I am excited about supplementing bassoon lessons with instruction in music theory, and I am able to teach a variety of music spanning d
ifferent styles and time periods according to each student's goals and interests. As part of playing the bassoon, I do make all my own reeds and offer high quality bassoon reeds to all my students at an affordable cost.
"Shannon is very thorough explaining the music and clear in her expectations. We plan to stay with her for long term."
"Great first lesson!"
"Kristilyn is an amazing teacher, she very kind and helps me understand my instrument, along with all of the necessities to caring for it correctly. She ha
s helped me grow and is very interactive with me. Sometimes we would have trouble connecting but she was flexible with our times, and dates."
"Jack is a friendly, encouraging instructor---a great match for my 11-year-old daughter. He's obviously an expert bassoonist, but does a fantastic job of e

"Alyssa is an excellent teacher who always goes the extra mile to make sure my daughter gets the most from her lesson. Her youthful energy makes her very r
elatable and her knowledge of the bassoon is something we struggled to find in our area. I feel like we’ve found the perfect teacher!
We all love taking online lessons! It saves us an hour and a half in the car, and it’s simply more comfortable to be in our own home. I’ve ben recommending Take Lessons to all my friends."
"Am a beginner with musical background on other instruments. Have only had one lesson so far, but it was great. Kristilyn communicates concepts simply an
d clearly and puts you at ease. A true educator, she understand where you are having problems and knows how to help you fix them. She not only explains the 'how,' but also the 'why,' and teaches with comparisons to common every day actions to illustrate concepts as they relate to playing the bassoon. She answered questions before my lesson, which greatly aided me as I was deciding which brand and model bassoon to buy. I feel lucky to have found such a person to take on a bassoon beginner. Can hardly wait to advance to be able to mine the knowledge and experience of this resource in more depth."
"First lesson went well!"
"I couldn't be more happy with the bassoon lessons that Jack has with my daughter. The online lessons are so convenient and a great way to work with this f
antastic teacher. Jack's teaching style is extremely positive and supportive. He encourages my daughter to push out of her comfort zone and grow as a musician. The progress that she has made with him is incredible. He is very knowledgeable about music and integrates music theory, sight reading, and rhythm studies into their lessons. You can see that he loves playing and teaching the bassoon and that excitement carries over to my daughter. She never wants to put her bassoon down after their lessons! Lessons with Jack have been the best thing we've done to support her playing bassoon."
"Kristilyn is a great teacher! I am looking forward to continuing!"
