Experienced Music teacher of 8 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of their instrument and theory skills. I specialize in all styles. Typically, I use a variety of method books to pick from to meet the needs of the students. I also have many tools available to use during lessons.
My students have gone on to NYSSMA and on to college auditions successfully!

Lesson content depends on the individual student, as I structure our time together depending on individual needs. Lessons can be relaxed or fast-paced, depending on what you desire to get from them.
All lessons include some combination of warm-up, scales and basic exercises, and solo literature appropriate to level. For more advanced students, we will discuss basic theory and ear training.

Band teacher experienced in bassoon and clarinet as well as experience in most other instruments. Beginning band to high school band students welcomed. Bassoon students would also get an inside into reed making. Lessons are customized and student-led. Focus on long tone exercises, scales, intonation, and solo work.

My name is Julia and I'm the Principal Bassoonist of the Nashville Symphony and the Santa Fe Opera. Additionally, I regularly perform with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. I have a Bachelors degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and I previously studied at the Montréal Music Conservatory.
As a soloist, I performed numerous times with the Nashville Symphony, Les Violons du Roy and Trois-Rvières Symphony.
As a teacher, I specialize in audition preparation and mental game coaching. I adjust my teaching to your personal goals! From reed making to excerpts, I'm here to help you!

The bassoon is an amazing instrument! The nickname for the bassoon is the "clown of the orchestra". I am so excited to teach you more about the bassoon! I am an interactive teacher who can assist you in many ways in regards to learning how to play the bassoon including; correct posture, new breathing techniques, correct fingerings, alternative fingerings, half-hole technique, improved sight-reading skills, greater music theory knowledge, and performance skills.
