Music theory and songwriting covers a broad range of music disciplines and students can expect to learn how to analyze their favorite songs, learn how to construct beats if they are interested in music programming, or even further their understanding into the worlds of classical and jazz studies.

Students will be expected to supply their own instruments, equipment and materials in instances where they would like to relate their music theory study to a specific instrument. Everything went well until we decided to do in home classes. After we paId him upfront he canceled a couple of time then he rescheduled a virtual class where he never showed up, we texted him and 20 minutes later he sent a text letting us know he was too busy And couldn’t continue teaching my daughter. We asked for the refund which we haven’t received yet. He is a good teacher just very unprofessional. we didn’t lose that much money but he hurt my daughter since she looking forward to learn from him. I wouldn’t recommend him.

I could not recommend her enough!!!! Pepina has made re-learning the violin easy and stress free! She is very patient and a great teacher. I played as a young child and wanted to relearn as an adult. I was very intimidated and nervous about re-learning. However, with the help of Pepina it has been enjoyable and very fun!

Alyssa helped my understanding of theory and helped me analyze songs faster. As a guitarist, my keyboard skills were definitely lacking and I needed clarity on some theory concepts I hadn't completely tackled. With just one lesson, I saw an improvement in my workflow and had a game plan on how to continue improving my keyboard & theory skills simultaneously.

Alyssa is an amazing piano teacher! Piano had always intimidated me, and Alyssa helped guide me through both the theory and the practical use of voicing, chord movement, and progression structure. As an experienced guitarist and music teacher myself, I found her lessons to be constructive, informative, and inspiring! Highly recommend for piano, theory and songwriting!

She said she couldn’t help me unless we were on zoom. No one told me this and I don’t know how to do zoom. So then she told me to connect to her on the computer and not my phone so I tried that. That didn’t work. So she looked at my screen and told me it was blurry. Then after all that we lost connection and she was unwilling to reschedule so I could actually get what I paid for which was help!!! All my other teachers on here have been good, but I can’t recommend jasmine as it was a complete waste of my money.

Excellent first lesson! Douglas was very patient, he corrected my daughter hand positions and show her the proper way to play the cello. He explained things clearly and made the lesson fun!

Doug is great - he's patient, supportive, positive, and provides enough structure to make me feel like I'm progressing while understanding the challenges of an adult student's schedule.
Jacob
Doug was on time (early, in fact!), super helpful, pointed out some minor tweaks that make a huge difference to my playing (things that I never learned in my previous cello lessons) and has been really accommodating. He's lent me some of his books and has offered to transcribe some songs I want to work on! Thanks!

"As Jim states on his bio, he teaches from age 8 and up. I'm one of his "up" students who's been playing guitar for a few years, but never took time to learn theory because I thought it was too confusing or difficult to learn. After being stuck in a rut for the past 30 years, I finally realized that I could be a guitar player, instead of just playing guitar, by understanding WHY I'm playing what I playing. I planned to take a few lessons to see how it would go. That was 4 months ago. Now when I pick up my guitar, I have a plan and am excited to learn more each week. Jim's approach to teaching theory makes it clear for anyone of any age or expertise. If you're young and want to learn the right way, Jim will teach you the right way. For us older folks, I found out you CAN teach an old dog new tricks... I highly recommend Jimmy!"

"Kelly really knows her theory, inside and out. And she can explain how it all works. It's much easier to memorize a piece once you understand the theory behind it: the progression of the chords, and their functions. I wish my former teachers had known theory instead of making me memorize all those notes with no explanation."
