I have been teaching and playing fiddle for 30 years.
We work on sight reading, ear training, and theory.
I have an easy style and like my students to enjoy their lessons.

About Cory
So you want to play an instrument? Well I have taught for over 40 years and have developed special programs for you on piano, guitar, bass, voice and other instruments for you to learn. From easy beginner to the most advanced, I will help you to learn the songs you love! Whether we use the most modern technology in my professional recording studio or just some chords or perhaps learning to sight read something for a talent show, I can take you all the way to the highest performance level. Your goals are my goals.
I have studied with some of the most famous teachers in the world, including Charlie Parker's pianist Walter Bishop Jr. and Dizzy Gillespie's musical director Mike Longo, among many others.
I also have the experience of over 400 gigs a year to bring to your lesson. I have performed on piano, guitar and bass and voca
ls with famous stars and some really great bands which will help me answer many of your questions. I am currently still working, teaching and recording all the time. I also have a professional recording studio in my home which you can take full advantage of.

*** Lesson Details ***
I want you to have fun learning and can help you with understanding and memorizing your songs.
I focus on sight-reading, ear training (like jamming and playing blues) and theory. You get to choose the areas you would like to learn.
Once we have established the basics including melody and chords, we will pick songs you want to learn to play with your friends or just by yourself. We can use music books or go on YouTube to learn your songs.
I have helped students with auditions as well as performances. After only a few lessons you will hear and see things differently than ever before.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio comes complete with acoustic and electric keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass and amps to play through, as well as professional microphones for recording. I use ProTools for recording which is used in every major studio around the world and it's loaded with great software for demos or mastering songs.

*** Specialties ***

Cory, is the Master Yoda of teaching music. That is truly evident in his patience, and honest desire to see you learn. Whether a beginner or an advanced musician like myself, Cory is exactly what you would hope to find in a great teacher. He is excellent in his skill and mastery of the art of music. That includes both his skill as a player, and in the science of music theory & harmony, When u see him play Piano, you will know instantly that he is a great master. Amazingly, he is also an awesome Guitarist & Bass Player. He has over 30 years of experience gigging on all 3, so there's no questioning his qualification to teach on all instruments. His seriousness as a true musician, and connoisseur of all forms of music & songwriting are especially beneficial to you. If you apply yourself, you will no doubt achieve your set goals, whatever they may be. Cory could be teaching at Juilliard or Berklee College of Music if he wanted to. That is not a joke. I went to Berklee, and so I am qualified to make that assertion. I learned a great deal studying with Cory, and that has translated into a priceless benefit for my own work.

You know you love to hear it and dance to it! Now you can learn to play it as well! Come have fun learning to fiddle! No previous experience required, but realize that you will have to have a few lessons on the basics at first.

About Hallie
Hello there! Do you or your loved ones have an interest in music? So do I! That is why I am here to teach and share my own passion for music. I love working with children and have two boys of my own. I love teaching music and instil passion for learning into every one of my students.

Having grown up in a musical family with my mother a professional violinist, I have been exposed to the joys of music since childhood. I learned how to play Suzuki piano at the age of three, and later percussion and string instruments from when I was six years old. In high school I joined the band playing flute. I loved playing flute and piccolo so much that I decided to take this as my career and went to Interlochen Arts Academy where I excelled in my performance. I later went to Prague Conservatory and Czech Budweiss Conservatory and played with the
Prague Film Orchestra. Even more recently I have been a teacher for the Flutes and Strings classes at Unison World School in Dehradun, India.

I have enjoyed having a very successful studio here in Tampa, and hope to enrich your life with music soon!

*** Lesson Details ***
My approach to teaching varies with the age level of each student. With younger students, imitation is often one of the best methods of learning and I prefer the Suzuki method for students up to age 8, especially with strings. For older children and adults, learning music notation and basic music theory for a full understanding of musical language are more important to get them to the level where they can learn any music that they want to play for fun. For students who wish to excel in their school band, a more practical approach with technique specific warm-ups and exercises seems to be the best in general.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in the living room which includes music stands, sheet music, whiteboard, video recording equipment and microphone, and seating for parents/students. No pets. Parking in driveway. Siblings are welcome.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide metronome, and tools for minor instrument repair. Students should provide their own music stands and sheet music.

*** Specialties ***
Suzuki method, Hrimaly, Taffanel et Gaubert, Patricia George

My son has been taking violin lessons with Hallie for almost one year. He started just after he turned 4. My concern when he started was that he was too young but Hallie has obviously taught kids his age before and knows what she is doing. She is creative in order to keep a four year old interested and engaged. She is also warm and positive. Most importantly, he's really learning how to play and about music in general - it is a wonderful feeling when he makes strides and does something that seemed so out-of-reach before.

Hallie is an extremely good teacher and is very, very kind. Although she misses nothing in terms of mistakes and weak areas, she always focuses on the positive and uses positive reinforcement to get the most out of the student. She makes very efficient use of lesson time and knows how to isolate any issues that come up. My child is a teenager and she connects very well with him. He has some ongoing issues with his form and she is so good about gently reminding him in such a way that he wants to improve and doesn't feel criticized. I'd highly recommend her. She's a very nice person and great teacher. So glad I found her.

This was our first lesson with Hallie. But she was very engaging, encouraging and asked all the questions that I could possibly hope a teacher/tutor would ask to get an idea of where the student is to make an action plan.
My Son has much more confidence that he can achieve his goals with her help! ~Thank you!

About Nicole
"To play wrong notes is insignificant. To play without passion is inexcusable." - Beethoven

I was five years old when I discovered my singing voice. My youthful curiosity soon blossomed into a passion for musical expression through voice, violin, piano, and guitar. My mission is to share the musical exploration that has enriched my life by fostering my students' desires to express themselves through music.

As a teacher, I focus equally on formal technique and artistic expression. Mastering correct form provides the foundation upon which a student’s capacity for the latter may grow. Techniques used during lessons are designed to develop a holistic understanding of music through aural, visual, and tactile cues. These include ear training, sight-reading, improvisation and using visualization to navigate the instrument. Progress is e
valuated by developing a set of goals specific to each student. I find that allowing students input in originating goals facilitates a cooperative learning environment and allows me to tailor lessons to a student's interests, strengths and learning preferences. Providing students with a plan to succeed inspires a drive to learn and sense of achievement. I encourage students to play their instruments daily. Through consistent practice, students will benefit from increased discipline, patience, creativity and self-esteem. Students are rewarded with the chance to share what they've learned at recitals held biannually. For the duration of our lesson, my students are in a private, nurturing zone of free expression. Join me in an exploration of personal talent and creativity!

Nicole has performed with the Rollins College Bach Festival Society Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. John V. Sinclair. She has also performed with the Florida Space Coast Philharmonic under the direction of Dr. Candler Schaffer. She is experienced as a session musician, recording vocals and violin at Wright Entertainment Group Studios (Justin Timberlake) with producer Will Baker (India Arie, Pink). She has performed as a soloist at the White House, Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, Amway Arena, and Hard Rock Live.

Nicole holds Bachelor of Arts degrees (with honors) in Music and Anthropology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Rollins College. A member of the Honors Program (top 2%), and one of nine Cornell Scholars in her graduating class, she is very grateful to have been awarded a full academic scholarship. Nicole pursued concentrations in Violin and Vocal Performance, as well as Ethnomusicology. Nicole served as co-concertmaster of the Rollins College Orchestra and String Ensemble for three, consecutive years, under the direction of Dr. John V. Sinclair. She was featured at Christmas Vesper services in a solo performance of Winter (The Four Seasons) by Vivaldi, at the Knowles Memorial Chapel. Nicole has studied violin with Joni Roos and Alvaro Gomez, protege of David Oistrakh. She has performed as a soloist with the Rollins College Gospel and Concert Choirs and studied vocal pedagogy and performance with Dr. Edmund Leroy and Dr. Lori Lovell. At Rollins, Nicole studied piano with Dr. Gloria Cook and enjoys playing classical, jazz, and Latin styles. Nicole has studied classical guitar for seven years and especially enjoys playing Latin American folk music and flamenco. Nicole pursued her love of world music in publishing her senior honors thesis, “Cultural Fusion of Music Constructs: A Look at Hybrid World Styles,” analyzing the effects of globalization on traditional, ethnic musics. She has published research in the Rollins Undergraduate Research Journal, where she also served as Music and Anthropology Editor for three years.

I teach traditional violin fundamentals such as holding the instrument, basic sight reading, intonation, and basic theory. I primarily teach artistic expression that makes the fiddle art and improve different from violin studies on paper. Both are important, but in my experience, fiddle is more social and more fun.

About Sharon
Been playing the violin for over 40 yrs. Started in elementary school and held the coveted "Concert Master" designation all through high school. Been playing fiddle since 1985. Twenty years experience as a dance fiddler, and the last several years studying swing and traditional Irish. I play in three bands, all different genres.
I consider myself so lucky to be blessed to be playing an instrument. It is one of the best kept secrets to life. This is a point I like to stress to my students. It enhances your mind, you can make wonderful friendships with like minded people, and constantly learn new tunes and genres. It just keeps you young at heart. I give 30 minute and 60 minute lessons. I recommend 30 minute lessons for beginners. I teach classical techniques for holding the instrument. Scales and intonation work are important, and can be integrated into simple songs so as not to be boring. Teach sight reading and auditory learning. Auditory is more important as Music is an auditory art. I am easy going and teach what the student wants to learn as everyone is on different levels and has different ways of learning. I also teach violin chords, and applied theory as to improvisation for playing. All skill levels welcome.

I use handouts from several different music books and will tailor them to your skill level. I do expect my students to find some time to practice what I give them. I really want my students to get all the bang they can for their buck

I wish I had found her years ago! Over the past 20 years, I've had 3 other teachers.
And although they were great musicians, I didn't relate to their style of teaching and I didn't feel like I was making progress. After the first lesson, Sharon has given me the confidence that I can do this and I feel that I've already made progress. What makes Sharon different is that she recognizes your level of skill and teaches to that level with progress in mind. She encourages you to relax and and enjoy playing. I'm excited about doing that!

Fiddling is a great way for young and old violin students to catch some enthusiastic violin playing. What a great way to get your fingers and bows flying while getting more technique and travel all over the world with your music.

I also love giving even my most inexperienced students options for improvising on a violin. Beginning improvisers can make no mistakes. It is all about getting comfortable and making discoveries.
If students want to get more music theory and technical information about Jazz improvisation I can provide aspiring musicians a head start before they join their first jam session.

I've been teaching preschoolers to College students and adults since 1992. Challenging students are my forte. As much as I enjoy working with my advanced students I never lose inspiration for my newest beginners of every age. Although I was forced to select a subject of Acoustic Guitar on the review form, my children and I have also taken lessons with Mel Parker on every subject in the pick list plus a few more. Theory, composition, recording. Improvisation techniques, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, violin, bass, mandolin, ear training, techniques applied to all music genre's, group and solo performance techniques, ETC! The main point here is that as an accomplished and talented musician, Mel Parker is fluent in the music industry and very skilled at teaching all skill levels, from beginner to pro. He can teach very rigid focused lessons or he can shift and adjust the lesson instantly to meet the needs of the student. My children have been able to explore and experiment different instruments, genre's and other areas of the music industry as their interests grew and changed over the years. They have had many changes in their interests but the one constant has been the TEACHER! It is wonderful to be able to have 1 teacher adjust his education for the ever changing and growing needs of my family. Both of my children are now very accomplished award winning performers and we all agree that Mel Parker has been/is the primary influencer in their accomplishments.

Working at Fairview Elementary gave me a great introduction to group teaching in a classroom, which I hope to soon be able to build upon. I also have experience tutoring college students at the Oberlin Conservatory in music theory, ear training, and German. Teaching truly is a life-long passion of mine.

I very much appreciated Augusta's efficient and organized usage of curriculum. She taught two of my children in their highschool years. Augusta works with Suzuki and other methods, and creates a wonderful combination that really helps get the most of one's musical and violinistic goals. She is both persistent and fun. Doesn't let anything slide, but at the same time makes learning effortless and fun. Both my kids enjoyed working with her very much. She seems to work well with all ages and personalities. Augusta is also very friendly, and easy to schedule with. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
