About Perry
Hello!

My name is Perry and I am a professional classical, flamenco and electric guitarist performing and recording in the Dallas area. I studied with Robert Guthrie at SMU for many years, as well as Brad McLemore of "Soul Food Cafe" and professional jazz musician Chuck Pangburn at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. In addition, I have taken masterclasses w/ many professional guitarists in all styles such as the flamenco guitarist Miguel Antonio.

I am familiar with all styles. I teach using a foundation in classical/flamenco style and technique. I have found that for my own career as a recording artist in both the classical, acoustic and electric guitar fields that the classical/flamenco styles are the most useful for developing and training the hands to become a consummate professional.

I teac
h beginner to advanced students of any age. I also can provide pro and amateur electric guitarists an in-depth study of correct hand postures and left-hand/right-hand technique which can help to refine their overall technique and stylistic approach. I can also advise professional electric guitarists on their electronics, effects pedals, and amplifiers to achieve their own individual sound. I also teach Bass, and reading the Bass clef.

My teaching specialties include: Solfeggio, Sight Reading, Music Theory, Scales and Modes, Left and Right Hand Technique, Blues Progressions, Jazz Standards the Classical Repertoire, Flamenco styles, techniques and repertoire, and the works of Sor, Giuliani, and Carcassi, Brouwer, Aguado, Villa-Lobos, Sabicas and Paco de Lucia.

I have an in-depth knowledge of the stylistic approaches and techniques of such guitarists as Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, and SRV to name a few, and I can teach you the components they use to build their signature licks.

As a rule I only transcribe to give the students examples for lessons. I intend for all of my students to grow as musicians, so my lessons do not consist solely of transcribed solos and riffs.

I have a vast library of music, so I can draw from my own resources to teach you, or from a method of your choosing.

My schedule has a few openings right now. I do teach outside of my stated teaching radius, but ONLY at the 60 minute rate.

I teach people of all ages, from children to adults. I believe everyone is on an even keel, if they are willing and eager to learn.

*** Lesson Details ***
Emphasis on classical posture and technique.
Emphasis on sight-reading.
All students learn to play basic blues and jam
Technique varies depending on the particular style the student wishes to learn.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I presently don't teach in my home studio. I can bring a folding music stand or extra footstool if necessary.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a limited number of learning materials such as copied exercises, listening or practicing CD on occasion. However, I feel that it is the student's responsibility to provide their own guitars, and the bulf of their own learning materials and necessary electronic equipment. This can include footstools, music stands, method books, amps, cables, pedals, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I've been playing guitar for 25 years, and this has given me the time to study, perform, and perfect many styles of guitar playing.

I studied classical and flamenco guitar with Robert Guthrie for 4 years before and after my studies in the SMU program. I've also played in jazz and rock ensembles since the age of 14. I studied with Chuck Pangburn, pro jazz cat, and Brad McLemore, an indie rock songwriter, early on in my studies as an adolescent.

I encourage most students to learn to play on a classical or nylon-string guitar early on in order to develop proper technique, posture, sensitivity, and sensibility. I also encourage all students to learn to sight-read at a very early point in their studies. Once, this hurdle is cleared many other challenges are easily surpassed.

Presently, I am developing a new method which incorporates solfeggio, blues and popular music forms, and improvisational playing. I also am exploring the vanguard of new guitar technology such as the Moog Guitar, analog effects, and various guitar synthesizers.

I try to introduce an understanding of music theory early on so that students develop a full comprehension of not only the written language of music, but also the sonic-aural language of music.

Perry takes the time to explain flamenco and related styles deeply and thoroughly. He also provides detailed micro-scale feedback on hand/arm placement, orientation, range and which muscle groups to engage. But more than the technical, he has an awesome vibe and makes learning guitar quite an enjoyable experience.

About Jordan
Well Rounded.

That's how I believe every man and woman should become.

Most people put more time in one field and neglect everything else, when they should be efficient in multiple studies.
Being truly brilliant, is being truly knowledgeable overall.

In my life, I gained experience in many different fields and believed that it would be best to share them all with everybody else, and help each individual become someone knowledgeable in many different aspects of life too.
Because you never know, sooner or later, someone may ask for something that only you can help them with!

My son is quickly learning to read and play notes, beats and chords - which was broken down into basics and explained well. I think this will also improve his math understanding.

Jordan was very patient and personable with my son's lesson. It was his first time learning to play his beginner acoustic guitar. Jordan began with the basics, explaining frets, chords, how to pick and precisely tune listening to an online tuner.

The tuning homework exercise was just right for his introduction. He brought along his electric guitar and explained things for us in a way that was easy to understand and pick up. He is looking forward to his lessons.

I was skeptic at first to take online lessons, especially photography. However, Amira made learning simple and very interactive. She was able to teach me enough within a few lessons in order for me to be able to take photos of my children. I'm thankful for the time and money spent on lessons.

About Sandra
If you just want to learn software programs, go elsewhere. But if you want to learn to SEE and become a true photographer, Sandra is the person to work with. Although software is certainly part of the discussion, software and cameras don't make pictures – you, your eye, and your experience are what make your pictures different and interesting.

And every person's path toward becoming a better photographer is unique. Sandra has helped hundreds and hundreds of professional (and amateur) photographers significantly improve their photography and their enjoyment of it. Working with her, results are quick.

You will get far more out each session with Sandra than from a dozen sessions with others and you will learn more about yourself and your potential. Just bring your questions and we start from where you are.

Sandra is an internation
ally respected picture editor and designer with unique experience that runs from contributions to scores of visual books and White House staff service to work on major newspapers, and the Associated Press. She was instrumental in creation of the original ground-breaking news site MSNBC as well as spearheading creation of the Defense Department's public web program. She has taught at three universities and at workshops all over the U.S. But Sandra is still easy to talk to and interested in YOUR concerns and pictures.

Sandra's key skill may be her ability to articulate visual concepts and issues, to find and convey the underlying currents and needs in a photographers work and then help him/her find the personal, unique route to reaching his/her potential.

Always fully honest, Sandra is also fully supportive of helping any photographer, from beginner to seasoned professional, become better, see more, and understand their own work on new levels.

Sandra can certainly help with technical matters but her special forte is in helping photographers and designers see in new ways. She has worked with documentary, landscape, fine art, portrait and other photographers as well as designers and web site builders.

Group sessions can also be arranged on request for additional fees.

I am a preschool, elementary, and middle school art teacher and an accomplished artist. I have experience teaching ages 3 to 50 explore their own creativity while learning painting and drawing.

I believe every individual no matter the age, experience, or inherent ability can learn to draw and paint! I can teach any artistic style, whether it be portraiture, wildlife, landscapes, anime, abstract, or mixed media.

Lessons are structured by meeting a student’s goal while building a strong foundation in the medium of preference and familiarizing one’s self with the elements of art, principle of design, and the color theory.

Students will have simple step-by-step instructions that break an image down into basic lines, shapes, and layers coupled with visual examples. You will have a project during our in-person or online sessions togeth
er followed by an assignment or goal to achieve before our next session. Children will focus on solidifying their artistic strengths while learning artistic techniques in every aspect of art. Young adults will strengthen their art portfolio with visual art tools and adults will rekindle their passion for art by revisiting the foundations of art.

I look forward to unlocking your or your child’s creative potential and strengthening existing talent with artistic techniques!

Lessons are offered in-person at my studio just outside of Boston or online. I look forward to hearing from you!

My daughter had her first drawing lesson today. Elissa was great - she was very kind and patient. In a quick half hour, she was able to draw a hand, with lots of detail and shading and taught her all about drawing pencils. We will be back!

About AHMED
I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.
