James is a very thoughtful and patient instructor. I took piano lessons many years ago as a child and always wanted to learn more. James was very reassuring and made me feel comfortable. I finally have the confidence to continue what I started many moons ago.

Thank you James! I was not that good with music growing up. Drums and guitar looks so complicated and I was interested. He is very patience. I don't have good rhythm with music! After getting 1 or 2 beats right i was excited! Practice and lessons make Perfect?? I hope so! "

Open and individualized lessons will teach each student in a unique fashion to fit them best. Chords, theory and musical reading will be the main focus of these lessons. My individualized approach works well for many students so that they learn what they want, how they want, and see the results that they specifically are looking for.

Students can expect to learn anything from basic chords to advanced theory and improvisational techniques on their instrument.

Although bass guitar is a secondary instrument for me, I have always taken much enjoyment in playing and teaching it. I have been playing bass for nearly as long as guitar and feel that it is a very important instrument that could be just as rewarding to play as any other instrument. My mastery over bass comes more from my time spent as a guitarist, however I do understand many nuances behind playing bass and can instruct you confidently on the correct/required methods as far as this instrument is concerned.

About Chris

I began teaching music professionally in 2015 and since then it has become my passion. I graduated college with a degree in music and teach professionally as my primary source of income. I cannot say enough good things about paul. First, despite having so many years of playing, he doesn't judge or look down on you for not having the same level of knowledge he has. Instead - he is able to communicate concepts, both basic and advanced, to you in a way that you can understand. Second, he caters to you in order to achieve the goals you want to achieve, not the ones he thinks you should have. Lastly, he's clearly passionate about playing, and music in general. he's a great guy to chat about, seems really down to earth, and goes above and beyond in order to make the most of the lesson.

I cannot say enough good things about paul. Highly recommend you take his lessons!

As a young female, I was apprehensive about choosing a male teacher that teaches in his home. However, Paul has been professional and I have not had any concerns since meeting him and working with him. He is a well-planned, experienced teacher who artfully progresses students from week to week in a manner that is constructive and fun. In only 5 weeks I have learned more about playing guitar and guitar theory than I would have thought. He has been attentive to my goals and it is precisely the experience that I pay for.

Jordan started teaching my son trumpet when he was 7 and we later added guitar lessons. In the past 8 years, my son has shined in both instruments in marching, concert, and jazz bands. As a musician, myself, I can appreciate how my son can master very difficult music as if he was an adult.

"Been taking classes with this guy for a while now. He's mainly a guitarist but also his bass skills are incredible. When I started I was just above beginner level, but now I am able to play along most rock songs ( for now I'm still in the 4/4 realm) and even do some slapping. I bet that in another year I will also be able to play RHCP stuff. Totally recommended."

"I met Jesse as a fellow musician when starting a band. Though I could PLAY bass, I didn't have the knowledge to apply theory and other tools to improve my playing and speed up my learning. Jesse started teaching me how the fretboard works (other than just numbers), keys, and the corresponding modal scales, and even technique for playing better. At first I was confused and impressed by this new world, but his ability to break down each element, and apply it to your personal learning style is really beneficial to any player. He's helped transition from playing bass like a rhythm guitar to playing bass like the instrument it should be, and opened me up to many opportunities to play with his other students as well. Definitely the teacher to check out if you want to improve your playing, and know you have the drive. He will call you on it, if you haven't been practicing!"

"Greg is an amazing person and instructor. Our son has been practicing, consistently, with him for a couple of years, and he loves playing more and more every week. Our son's first lesson with Greg was when he was around 3 years old. It was lots of fun. Then, when our son showed interest in really getting into playing, we came back to Greg. Our son's excitement about practicing with and studying under Greg appears to us to come from the joy in playing and variety of music that Greg brings in every session. We are constantly impressed at how much our son learns and enjoys the learning and enjoys having Greg as the instructor."

"Our son took bass lessons from Alex and really enjoyed them! He learned to listen to current songs and find the bass line. Xavier also learned how to read tab, and he really enjoyed playing his bass along with recorded tracks. Our son is a pretty busy kid, trying to balance sports, school, scouts and music. We did not want him to feel pressure about learning the bass, but we did want him to get a taste of how fun it can be to play music! We also wanted him to understand that learning to play requires a combination of listening and reading music. Alex was a great fit for our son! And now Xavier has a basic musical skill that we know he can build on someday!"

Learn Bass Guitar: How to Play a Walking Bass Line in 3 Steps

Looking for a way to make your bass lines move? Bass guitar teacher Miller W. shares his three step plan to creating walking bass lines... The walking bass line is one of the most fundamental parts of American music. It is found most commonly in blues and jazz, but as you learn bass guitar, you will hear its influence in almost any style of music. A walking bass line provides a strong rhythmic and harmonic foundation by smoothly moving from each chord to the next using four quarter notes pe …
