As a violin teacher, I love helping my students achieve their goals!
I believe not only the results matter, but also the journey. I focus my lessons on helping the student learn and have a deeper understanding of music theory, harmony, rhythm, technique, and how all those apply to the violin. I specialize in classical music and I use methods such as Suzuki, Essential Elements, and many others to help you become a better violinist. The lessons take place in a relaxed and fun setting :)

My greatest joy is sharing music, and I love to help students discover their own creative voice through their instrument! I am a versatile classical violinist and violist, fiddle player, songwriter, improviser, and cross-genre musician with over 20 years' experience playing the violin and 8 years' experience teaching violinists of all ages and abilities.

I'm currently only enrolling students online, but I will be available to teach in-person lessons in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, metro area and in Northfield, MN, after it is safe to do so.

Students will work within a variety styles of music including the Suzuki method, fiddle and popular music. Good technique will be emphasized that will improve sound and intonation and musicality. Games and various practice techniques emphasizing visual, aural and physical learning modalities will help students enjoy lessons and learn more quickly.

Brandon G. has been privately teaching/mentoring Violinists for 7 years. Within the first few lessons, you will be able to understand the basic instrumental/music fundamentals and as time progresses, you will be able to improve your Viola playing abilities at a much more developed level. I use the Essential Elements for Strings method materials, Suzuki method materials, and my personal music library. With my assertive yet relational personality, students can expect to build a solid foundation of technique, intonation, and other skills through my unique methods for learning efficiently which I have developed through the course of over 15 years of teaching violin. Whether they are in beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels, I provide a well-rounded teaching approach that would help them gain confidence in their musical and learning abilities as well as motivate them to practice and progress! ! Please NOTE: At this time, besides advanced and intermediate level students, beginning students may only be accepted for online lessons with me if they had at least 1 solid month of weekly lessons.

I use many methods including Suzuki, Kodaly and traditional teachings that include catered practice plans in order to accommodate each student's learning needs. I am very flexible and more than happy to discuss teaching methods and/or special needs with parents and students.
