Blues is a great style to start out in. Most experienced players can jam on the 12-bar blues progression and blues scale. Learn about the blue note for the first time or build on your knowledge to make things more interesting if you already know the basics.

Hi, there! My name is Amador and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons for over 5 years and I mostly pride myself on the fact that I help students fall into a lifelong love with music! Although with time students tend to lose their interest due to the self-discipline required to succeed at playing an instrument, I make sure to offer a fresh, inspirational, and engaging approach to my lessons. I introduce many different styles, performance skills, composition, and most importantly the ability for self-expression through music. I have been playing, teaching, and performing for most of my life and have a huge passion to share this gift of music with you!

I have been teaching for the past 8 years, and have worked with any age or skill level you can imagine. This has allowed me to create a methodology that will make sure you obtain the foundation you need in order to thrive at playing an instrument, but never lose track of what kind of music you're looking towards learning, and where your interests lie. I also have extensive performing experience having played and learned styles such as Flamenco (my first introduction to music), Jazz (I have a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Jazz Performance), Rock, Blues, Classical music and many more.
About Julian
I have a Bachelors degree in Jazz Performance from Berklee College of Music, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude, and a Masters Degree from Queens College in Jazz performance, studying under musicians such as Mike Moreno, Antonio Hart, Alain Mallet, David Berkman, Michael Mossman, Tim Miller and many

Hello there! My name is Tyler and I would love to teach you or your child how to play the guitar.
I purchased my first guitar when I was 8 years old and was so excited to learn how to play. I took my first lesson a year later, but was disappointed. I didn't find it fun and therefore didn't want to practice. I wanted to play songs, but all the instructor wanted me to do was learn basic theory. After not making progress... I stopped the lessons. The next year I tried a different instructor, but still did not learn much. The issue for me was playing guitar wasn't fun for me at this point. And that is the most important thing in my opinion if you are going to dedicate yourself to learning to play. A few years later... I discovered punk rock music and online guitar tabs. Suddenly, I was able to look up on my own how to play songs that I was actually excited to play. This changed everything. I started to practice daily. Within a few more years... I could handle almost any basic chord ...

David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.
David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!
About David
David is a successful singer/songwriter/guitarist out of Fairfax, VA. He has a bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in composition from Salisbury University, where he also studied jazz and classical guitar . In the 25 years he has been performing (20 of those professionally) and playin

After struggling to teach myself to play the guitar, I realized that I had hit a wall in my self-instructed learning and I needed to find a guitar teacher. I found Phil through word of mouth - and I have made great progress under his tutelage.
If you want to learn to play the guitar, Phil is the teacher you want - if you just want to learn to play songs, well, there’s YouTube."
