Vir is beyond your typical vocal coach. He was a huge help on things like pitch accuracy and phrasing, but more than anything, his focus on getting me to tap into and harness my inner power has already paid huge dividends in my recordings and performances. Further, Vir is an amazing person to know and his home-studio in Berkeley is magnificent!
I am a bioengineer and researcher so biology is the science I engage in every day. Sure biology can be challenging with mountains of new vocabulary words and it's propensity for delving deep into the minutiae of biological processes, but it is all so worth it - this is the study of life! Working with me, you will learn the best and most efficient way for memorizing and understanding all of the many intricacies of biology.
Hello there! My name is Colin, and I have five years of experience tutoring math and science. I am a PhD student in the UC Berkeley-UC San Fransisco joint bioengineering program. My strong background in STEM qualifies me to tutor math and science up through lower-division college courses. Aside from my academic qualifications, I believe that it is my genuine passion for math and science that makes me an effective tutor for students of all backgrounds.
As a tutor, my goal is not to impress students with how much I know. Rather, my goal is to show my students how easily math and science concepts can come to them when they are presented the material in a straightforward way. The late physicist, Richard Feynman, posited that the ability to explain complicated ideas in a simple manner is the true mark of understanding. I agree with this a
ssertion, and I make it my goal each tutoring session to explain even the most complex phenomena in a simple way, so that my student will come away from the lesson invariably understanding it. Additionally, I emphasize a strong understanding of the fundamentals, because both math and science are heavily inductive disciplines; many of the theorems and laws are founded on other, more fundamental principles. I have personally experienced the discouragement of trying to learn material that is beyond my preparedness level, and so I can empathize with students who are in that boat. Fortunately, I have learned that the remedy is always a return to, and a strengthening of the basics. That is the approach I take with students who find themselves struggling in a course.
My online teaching platform is a “black board” drawing program that my students can follow along with as I explain concepts and solve problems. I simply share my screen with them during the session, and at the end, I take a screenshot of the notes and email it to my students for their reference. I hope this brief explanation of my qualifications and teaching style has provided a clear image of what you can expect from me as your tutor. I am eager to hear from you and help you succeed in your academic goals!
My name is Milka. I have 5 years of tutoring experience in the sciences and math! I am eager to share my love for science with whomever I tutor. Growing up I have experienced teachers teach a simple topic in a complex way hence, confusing a lot of their students. My aim is to teach in a way that would make students fall in love with the subject rather then scare them away.
My name is Milka. I have been tutoring for about 8 years now. I am an MB3 (Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and Biochemistry) Major. I believe students learn science by doing science, and that my classes are a medium through which my students will learn life skills that are critical for their success in college and future careers. As our students must be prepared to work cooperatively in a global and technological society where many of them will eventually hold jobs that do not yet exist, I emphasize critical thinking and problem solving, using our science content to develop good evidence-based reasoning and communication skills.
She helped my daughter with all of her exams! Thank you Ms. Milka! You are truly a gift!

Milka has been such a help in tutoring my child math. She is fun and makes topics easy to understand. She is flexible with the schedules especially since my child schedule is hectic. Definitely recommend her.
DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED! Biology and its concepts (mitosis, meiosis, operons, equilibrium, evolution) are all concepts that might seem challenging when reading from a textbook but are in reality the fundamental systems that allow is to exist. In my teaching I will strive to kindle an inextinguishable flame of desire for knowledge in certain topics, as I hope to entertain you by drawing connections to the current scientific world. Having taken Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, and Food Science at the University of Florida I am confident I can make you understand Biology so well that you'll end up becoming a tutor for it. Lets go!
To whom it may concern,
My name is Jairo H. and I'm a Microbiology student at the University of Florida. I have attended the University of Florida, a top 8 Public Institution, since August 2017 and I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. With all the flamboyance aside, I attribute my success partially to circumstance but majorly to hard work and perseverance. My deepest desire is to excite you about the world of Chemistry and Biology, in hopes to inspire within you a thirst for empirical knowledge.
Jairo has helped me develop my chemistry skills significantly. He doesn't just teach me how to study chemistry, but how to study for classes in general! I took Chemistry 1 and 2 with him and he helped me get excellent marks in both of them.
I really enjoy tutoring and helping students understand biology. I find it satisfying to share my knowledge and passion for science with students. My academic experiences have nurtured me to be highly self-motivated and perfectionist in all my work. Through my tutoring experience I have acquired skill of how to help student to achieve his answers and to enhance the understanding of subject using images and examples.

I can help you with the topics like Genetics, Biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, Microbiology. I also have 2 year teaching experience as an assistant professor. I am strong education professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused in medical microbiology. My masters and graduation is in Biotechnology.
Biology is about life and so I do my best to make it come alive!
During a lesson you might find that we use music or poetry or even painting to learn about a concept. You might discover that we don't just watch a video, we make one. And you might observe that, when we are talking about a concept, we take our conversation wherever it needs to go so that you can see how it fits in the bigger picture of biology and the sciences.
I think it's important that students express their learning in the ways that work best for them. So I try to find ways to encourage that and this means you can expect to discuss with you the question of how you are learning. And I want students to know that they are succeeding, so you and I will work together to come up with some good ways to help you see that and celebrate it.
We do focus on the details of the science, but I will help you to put in practice some techniques that will give you the confidence and the skills to ace your class at school or ...
That is the word around which I build my tutoring.
I want my students to enjoy learning about science. I want them to see and understand why it's useful, how knowing it can help them, and how it can be fun.
To get there, I focus on three things:
First, I try hard to make sure that every student does not lose sight of the overall connection between the very specific, sometimes technical details she is learning and the overarching point of the science. That helps keep the subject interesting.
Second, I work to help the student master the quantitative aspects of science. High school teachers generally emphasize that kind of calculation to a pretty significant degree and, besides, nervousness over the math often gets in the way of enjoying the learning and a better grade!
Third, I strive to develop a strong working relati
onship with the student so that I get a better understanding of the ways that she or he best learn. I use videos, texts and written practice materials, sure, but I also use comics, music, drawing, outdoor activities, and even lab-style learning activities.
This variety helps to assure that a student has some fun while learning and to recognize that the sciences are exciting. If a student is encouraged to believe that, then she or he might not only improve their grade in science class. The student might just become open to some new dreams and, of course, gain alot more confidence.
I make myself available to email or text consultation with a student, with the parent's permission, outside of the regularly scheduled in-person meeting and I do not charge for that extra help.
Hello! I am an incoming junior at Harvey Mudd College. I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology. Biology has been one of my favorite subjects since middle school. I have taken general biology, AP biology, molecular genetics, computational biology, and mathematical biology. I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) in various subjects for 6 years now. I have a lot of experience working with students with different learning styles. I love studying the sciences and I’d love to help students understand the concepts instead of memorizing them.
Hi there! I am majoring in mathematical and computational biology at Harvey Mudd College. I love studying the sciences because it's exciting to learn how things work and to logic things out. I love working with others - I have been tutoring students (ranging from elementary school to high school) on various school subjects for about 6 years now.
Music is another huge part of my life: I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the violin for 8 years now. I am currently a violinist in the Pomona College Orchestra. In 2014, I was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall after my participation in the American Fine Arts Festival. In high school, I placed either first or second on solo, duet, and ensemble competitions in various competitions held at places such as Diamond Bar High School and Chapman University. Through these activities, I prac
ticed on persistence and patience. Teaching experience wise, I have taught piano for 3 years before.
Additionally, I enjoy actively participating in my community. In high school, I was really involved in the American Red Cross and Key Club. In college, I am still finding joy in volunteering in different organizations on campus. I also enjoy other activities such as reading, meditation, theater, tennis, rock climbing, and ballroom.
I work with people according to their personality and the way that they learn best. If I were given the opportunity to tutor your student, I would make sure everything is clearly explained because I hate memorizing.
Sophia worked with my daughter during her Junior year of high school. My daughter was really struggling to understand the material and Sophia was a huge help. Sophia broke the lessons down and was able to instruct my daughter in a way that she could comprehend. Her grade improved by one letter which was wonderful. We truly appreciated Sophia's help.
