Having studied piano performance at Westminster Choir College after teaching myself as a teenager, and having taught piano for over a decade has prepared me to teach any beginner and intermediate piano student, no matter her background. My students learn how to read music well, while playing with great style and proper technique.
In my home studio, we'll use a pro-level Yamaha keyboard with weighted keys.

More important than my conservatory education and my experience as an educator and a performer is my passion for teaching music and acting and my undying belief that anyone can learn to be a musician and an actor. I'm currently available to teach lessons in my own St. Augustine home studio and

After teaching elementary music in the public schools and operating a private music studio for 47 years, I retired from public school teaching in June. Since March, because of the coronavirus, I have been teaching lessons entirely online. I strive to personalize lessons to suit each student's learning style, ability and personal goals. My master's thesis was Developing an Approach for Beginning Group Piano Instruction. As a composer myself, I strongly encourage my students to understand music theory and to explore writing music of their own. I believe in strong sight-reading skills while supporting their natural abilities to learn by ear. The ultimate goal with all students is to develop a life-long love for music in order to make it a permanent part of their lives!
About Darrell
My goal is to personalize a music lesson that is designed around each student’s learning style, skill level, schedule and interests. My specialty is in teaching elementary age students, but I have taught all ages, including adults through the years. My philosophy for teaching involves these eleme

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Aside from technique, each lesson was equivalent to a college course in music theory. She understands that technique is only half of playing an instrument and the importance of knowing the reason each note falls where it does. This may sound overwhelming, but Angela never gives you more than you can handle, while challenging you to improve at a rapid pace. It was an extremely gratifying experience and I am thrilled at the progress that I made in under a year."
