During lessons, we will learn proper playing techniques and reading notation. I can prepare you for a School orchestra or if you just want to learn popular songs for fun. My goal is to make all lessons with be fun, engaging, and you will look forward to the next lesson.

About Nicole
Nicole began her musical journey in Long Island, New York when she began piano lessons at age five. While receiving training on piano, she joined her elementary school orchestra in the 3rd grade and quickly soared with violin. During this period, Nicole began learning music theory and the art of reading music. As a fourth grader, Nicole would go on to conduct and tune every instrument in her orchestra during rehearsal. She always competed and won many NYSMA competitions for violin while attending music seminars and workshops. It was then that her teacher realized she had a gift. Nicole continued with piano lessons and began teaching herself guitar. Later, after college, she bought herself a drum set and began to teach herself drums.
As an adult, Nicole studied to become an elementary teacher and worked in the New York State Sch
ool Districts for over five years. Shortly after receiving her master€'s degree for Literacy Education, Nicole decided to attempt to share her passion for music. In 2007, Nicole opened a music studio in Holbrook, New York. Here, she refined her music teaching skills while establishing Nicolex Inc. Music Island as a leading source of quality music education. Her summer traveling music program allowed her students to experience live performances as well as create music groups with peers with the same passion for music.
Nicole now resides in Tampa, Florida with hopes to spread her business as well as the joy of music to children and adults. She currently is the singer for a local original rock band. In this band, Nicole writes songs, sings, plays guitar/piano (not all at the same time). Needless to say, she understands the importance that music has had in her life and wishes to ignite that passion in other music lovers.

My teaching style is best labeled as kind but firm. I take my job very seriously and want wholeheartedly for my students to have music as a part of their life, not just a part of their day. I love to laugh and have fun but I will definitely expect my students to practice and complete any homework I assign and be prepared for the following lesson. Simply stated, music is fun and the love of my life, but if I still practice, you will as well. Otherwise, I always believe in teaching songs my students are interested in and will expand their musical skills. My experience as a public school teacher had enhanced my sense of finding individual needs of every student. Therefore, I always differentiate lessons to suit my students interest while teaching them the foundations every musician needs in order to be successful. My specialty is teaching a variety of instruments. I play drums, guitar, bass, piano, and sing as well. So, if one instrument is not for you, I can teach you something different without a problem. Long story short, friends, you are in good hands.

Quite possibly the world's most popular musical instrument. The violin is relatively small and is tuned with a high E string to play high-pitched melodies. This instrument is the most popular choice for lessons as well.

About Trevor
First things first: thank you for taking the time to look at my profile! I realize that you have many choices when it comes to a music teacher in the Tampa Bay area, so I appreciate you taking the time to read a little about me.

I began teaching in 2008. I earned an Associate of Arts in Music from Hillsborough Community College in 2011, and I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of South Florida in 2013. At USF, I also studied music education and orchestral conducting extensively. I am currently a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County, specializing in elementary music, and I am in the process of completing my requirements to teach full time. I am also a composer, and many of my works are posted on IMSLP.org and my personal website.

My lessons are structured mostly around what the student wants. For example, we
may go over some orchestra music the student is learning at school, or we might go over some music theory homework, or perhaps a combination of the two (I frequently incorporate music theory into violin and viola lessons anyway). Or, maybe the student wants to learn a popular piece ("Let It Go" and other Disney songs are favorites of many students).

I may also assign different etudes (pieces designed to focus on a specific technique), scales, and repertoire for the student to study and improve on. The repertoire I chose will be challenging to the student and will server as a tool to help the student improve on one or more aspects of their playing. For younger students, we start off very slow in order to avoid injury and to make sure we get the basics down 100% before moving on into reading and playing music.

It is important to remember that every student is different, and every lesson I teach is tailored to each student; for this reason, I never teach the same lesson twice!

As a teacher, I am stern, but I also have a good sense of humor. I love to have fun. I feel that I connect very well with my students, because I am personable and understanding, but also direct and strict. My philosophy about teaching music is that music is a gift that is meant to be enjoyed. Practicing music should not be like homework! Every time the student picks up his or her instrument, he or she should feel excited about making music. I have taught all kinds of students, ranging from five year olds who are playing music for the first time, to high school seniors preparing for a college audition, to adults in their late fifties who want to pick up a violin or viola as a hobby. My goal is to make the student the best musician he or she can be, while making sure he or she maintains an appreciation for music in general.

Music to me is, in a way, therapeutic at times. It simply feels good to play music! I invite you to take the steps to experiencing the same joy I get from playing music every day. When you do decide to begin, I would be honored to guide you along the way.

As a dedicated teacher, I make sure to tailor each lesson to meet all the student's specific needs in order to help and guide them in becoming the best musician that they can be!

Below is my Biography, so you can get to know me a little bit more!

-- Zeynep Alpan Biography --

Turkish American violinist, Zeynep A, started studying the violin at the age of 5 as part of her music therapy treatment for her diagnosis of speech delay and Auditory Processing Disorder. Almost immediately after being introduced to the violin, Zeynep began to speak and following a year and a half of violin studies, she had her first solo appearance with Vivaldi’s A minor Violin Concerto, after winning the Peabody Concerto Competition.

As a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, Zeynep has appeared in a myriad of venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Moscow Conservatory Great Hall, Mariinsky II Theatre, and Strathmore Hall. Future engagements include performing as a soloist with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey during their 2019 USA Tour and recording a CD with the Turkish recording label, Lila Muzik.

Zeynep is the first prize winner in many competitions, some of which include the Juilliard Concerto Competition, the Dorothy DeLay Fellowship Competition at the Aspen Music Festival and School, the National Philharmonic Concerto Competition, and the Goldie and Feder Memorial String Competition. Community outreach and service has played an important part in Zeynep’s musical life. In 2013, Zeynep co-founded the group Sonatas Stopping Starvation. The project uses musical excellence to help develop citizens and leaders within the arts and the greater community. Their mission is to be of service as artists and citizens to organizations that work to fight hunger. Along with a school-wide food drive, they gave their first benefit concert in November 2013 at the Juilliard School. Zeynep is also a Morse Teaching Artist Fellow, a Gluck Community Service Fellow, and a Music Advancement Program Fellow.

My daughter had the pleasure of taking lessons with Zeynep this past summer in the PALS program in Aspen. She loved each week when it was lesson time. This is what Addison had to say, "She always would say the area I needed to work on nicely. I loved that she gave me knew things to learn at each lesson. If I didn't understand, she would keep encouraging me until I did." This was an excellent experience!

Hello!

I have over 10 years of musical experience playing violin, and other instruments. I also have over 3 years of experience working with children ages 4-12. I have the ability to work with all ages.

My interest is in the student. I am interested in tailoring lessons to the goals and desires of each student. I specialize in students starting out and getting their feet wet in the music world. I believe in setting goals and achieving them in the way that works best for my students.

About Chelsea
Welcome everyone!

I have a few beliefs:

I believe that everyone should know how to play an instrument. Whether it is violin, ukulele, piano, their voice, whatever! Music is a part of what makes us human, and is important for personal development.

I believe that no one is "too old" to start up an instrument. Age is only a number and it is never too late to start up something that may become a passion.

I believe that learning an instrument is a journey. Any journey has its ups and downs, but in the end, you are glad you took that first step.

I have been playing violin for over 10 years, and along the way have picked up some ukulele, voice, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and piano. I am a teacher, and I have the knowledge and know-how to pass along to any student. However, I also consider myself a student in that I am always
looking to learn how to improve myself.

Any student of mine will have 100% of my interest in their growth and development as a musician. I can work with a wide variance of ages, having experience in ages 4-12 year old children.

I look forward to meeting with you soon!

Chelsea is a wonderful teacher. Playing a plastic recorder for a week in fourth grade music class is the extent of my musical experience and that was a LONG time ago. Chelsea is great at finding the right place for me to start learning and then laying out for me exactly what I need to work on in order to progress to the next stage of my learning process. I had been considering teaching myself how to play the violin via youtube videos but learned more in the span of one hour-long session with Chelsea than I could have learned in a week going that route. Chelsea was able to address the importance of things like posture and breathing to achieve the best possible sound, without that real time one-on-one instruction this would have been a nuance that I would not have ever picked up on. She is punctual, friendly, polite and patient. I highly recommend hiring her to teach you or your kids an instrument.

More than excited to share my knowledge with you. Let's get started!

About Gjergji
I am a professional violinist since 1981. I graduated from University of Tirana, Albania with a Bachelors in Violin. Since then I haven't stopped teaching violin both privately and through schools. I have a great experience in classical violin. I have performed with orchestras and being the first violinist for the Opera Albania, theaters and ballet performances. In 1998, I moved to Athens, Greece, where I continued to perform for different orchestras throughout the country. In the meantime, my passion for teaching kept me going even with speaking little Greek at that time. I lived there for 15 years and with other artists we created a band called 'Adriatika" playing traditional Balkan songs.

Throughout my years of teaching the violin, many of my students have pursued great careers either by getting scholarships into the best music scho
ols such as Italy, France, England, Germany, Switzerland, New York, Michigan, or by acquiring a position in an orchestra or creating their own band.

Recently, I moved to Tampa and I am so excited to meet you, share my knowledge, experience, and make violin lessons a fun and happy time of your day but also be serious and accomplish our goals.

Definitely, all ages and all levels are welcomed. Lessons are going to be adjusted to anyone's particular level and knowledge. Feel free to contact me at any time for any questions. Schedule is flexible. Let's get started!
