Opera is such a beautiful genre that I love to sing! As with any student you learn all vocal techniques. Attention to detail is what sets this genre apart so we explore challenging concepts and tools to really help your instrument reach it's fullest potential. We cannot stop at just a good vocal sound however, the full performance is explored from musical tools to acting through the song and staging/gestures.
About Marissa
My musical journey started in high school when my algebra teacher saw me in the hallway, grabbed my hand and brought me to the choir room to sign up for The Sound of Music auditions. To this day I cannot believe my math teacher unknowingly sent me straight down a path that I would walk the rest of

There are a number of reasons someone may wish to take music lessons. Whatever the specific reason, striving to achieve one’s “artistic truth” is the goal. My holistic view of education is to help a student find his/her own individual “voice” as a singer and a creative artist. I believe the role of an educator is not to relay information in a detached context, what I call teaching “at” a student, but to lead that student in a discussion of the music, pulling information from the student in a collaborative effort between two or more individuals. It is my goal to facilitate an emotionally safe environment for students to take risks, make mistakes, listen critically, and articulate his/her thoughts. We work towards freedom of expression and letting go of fear. Fear is the single greatest enemy of any artist: If you're afraid of how your music will go, you won't be making art.
A healthy mind, body, and spirit all work together to make a strong, whole individual. The development of ...

The goal of training the voice is to create a strong, unified sound through the entire range of the voice. With regular practice and training, the quality of the voice will improve, the range will expand and you will become a more confident performer.
About Robert
A native of Chattanooga, TN, Robert T. has been hailed by critics as a “sonorous-voiced” bass-baritone with “rich tones” who creates “a solid foundation for the entire performance.” That’s the first sentence of my professional biography. I thought I'd use it to get the ball rolling. I was

They both have an amazing way of explaining things, and when I have that "a-ha" moment- it is glorious! I've learned more than I ever imagined- I never thought I would ever sing Italian or French! They support exploring different musical styles and genres, and do we ever have fun! It is my weekly therapy, and I am so grateful I found them as my teachers.
I highly recommend them for your mental health, personal development and the pure love of singing.

Singing is super fun but can also be discouraging when obstacles such as strain and vocal fatigue set in. My goals as a voice teacher are to boost the confidence of singers through developing reliable breathing technique, a connected support system and a clear, easy tone. I have been teaching voice for the past seven years, have a bachelors in voice, and am working towards a masters in voice from Florida State University where I teach undergraduate musical theater and classical students. Along with voice technique lessons, I frequently coach my students in singing German, Italian, and French as well as English. If you're interested in developing your singing game and wonder if we would be a good fit, send me a message!

So blessed and honored to find Lori Ann and to be working with you!!!"

I am classically trained in both the piano and violin. It had been about 10 years since I last had any private lessons and 8 years since I last sang in a choir. I was excited to get back to music.
JoAnn has been an extremely supportive instructor. I am shy to perform but she put me at ease immediately and has encouraged me to be more confident and daring in trying new techniques. What mainly sets her apart from my past teachers is that she also has a way of giving easy to understand instructions on how to change various parts of your body to produce the sound you want. As a result my singing has improved immensely over the past 6 months since starting lessons. I now sing in a professional level choir and love the mature, full sounding quality of voice I have been able to produce with JoAnn's help!"

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
