In your lessons with me, you will first learn proper set-up and technique, and we will mainly work from the Suzuki method books. Additionally, I will provide you with various scales, exercises, and "fun pieces" as you progress. I wholeheartedly believe that learning the violin should be enjoyable, and not a chore. So, wherever you are at with current skill level, and whatever your motives are for taking lessons, you can rest assured that we will have a great time together!

I have worked with Lauren for over a year now. I have found that Lauren is very patient and is willing to work with you to reach your goals and not just the goals of a book. Lauren works with you on a one on one basis to help you get where you want to go. Lauren is extremely knowledgable and always ready with a challenge to help you progress.

I just completed my first lesson with Lauren. I was hesitant as to how it would go because I know nothing about the violin or how to hold the bow. With that said, even though it has only been one lesson, I have complete confidence that Lauren will help me reach the goals I am looking to achieve. She has a wonderful calmness that makes you feel relaxed and competent.

About Hannah

I firmly believe that everyone can learn to play an instrument, no matter the age! After studying piano for almost 10 years I decided to learn a new instrument and began taking violin lessons when I was 16 years old. In spite of being told that I was “too old” to learn to play the violin, I con

We literally knew nothing about playing the violin. My son (11yrs old) got one for Christmas and we couldn't even figure out how to get a sound out of it. Hannah was very helpful and simply started from the beginning. She showed him how to prepare the bow and tune the instrument and by the end of the first lesson my son was playing beautifully sounding notes. He is very happy with his teacher and looks forward to the next lesson.

I have been teaching private piano, violin, guitar, and ukulele lessons for ten years. I won competitions, hundreds of dollars, and a scholarship through the Desert Valley Music Teacher Association (DVMTA). I have written and self-published two piano books with more in the works. I have worked on a Music Theory degree at MCC and plan to transfer to ASU to finish my bachelor's. I help students find the fun in music again with many involved music games and incentive programs. I instill a love and confidence in students of composing their own music from a young age.

I was raised in the Suzuki method, trained in it, and I believe in it. It is the most effective school of education for new musicians who want to learn reliably. I've been teaching it 9 years.

I can talk to you for days about the method, but I will sum it up as quickly as i can.

1: Immersion
2: Daily Practice
3: Listening
4: Strong relationship between student, teacher and parent.

If the student listens everyday, practices everyday, practices what i tell them, and is made to love the music, you will learn. I've taught hundreds of students this way and when all the conditions are met, all my students have had success.

"When I first started studying with Lauren in 2017, I was a freshman in high school and stuck in the fifth stand of my orchestra. Six months later, I moved up to being the concert master. Lauren is amazing. She brings out the best in my playing. She has a great ear for music, she is an amazing violinist, and the best teacher I have ever had. With Lauren I was able to progress from 3rd position to 7th position in a short time. She is very kind and patient, and never gets frustrated with me (unlike all my other teachers). She is the reason I have been able to excel at violin. Best. Teacher. Ever."

"Zebie is great! I'm an adult beginner with practically no music background. He is very patient and encouraging, having to teach me about music more broadly in addition to how to play the violin. He is certainly very knowledgeable about all things violin and experienced as well. I also really appreciate the fact that he seems to celebrate the connection between player and instrument, and teaches you about the instrument as well if you are interested. I'm sure you'll enjoy learning from him!"

"I am an adult learner who started working with Hallie January 8. Hallie is an excellent instructor. She has a style of instructing that is very patient and nurturing. It is very clear that she is a strong believer in positive reinforcement over negative reinforcement. She is very open to questions and when you do not understand something, will try to find alternative ways of explaining the concept, rather than simply repeating what she has already said. I could definitely see that she would be very good working with children. I leave every lesson with Hallie in a very positive place wanting to immediately go home and practice. I feel very fortunate that I have discovered Hallie and look forward to working with her for years to come."

"I had my first violin lesson on Sunday with Tarcisio. He is an excellent violin teacher and I highly recommend him. He has a very mild manner and style of teaching which put me at ease and provided a level of comfort in feeling somewhat relaxed and free to play and learn from mistakes, unlike my other teachers who were much more critical. Tarcisio was totally focused on my playing. Within the first 10 minutes of my lesson, I played the first movement of Vivaldi's Concerto in A Minor. Although he said I played very well, I think he was being nice for the first lesson. He then highlighted a few specific technical challenges and how I could overcome them. I especially enjoyed the way he explained, demonstrated and then allowed me to practice techniques to improve my playing. He taught me 3 new things that I never known before, making the lesson very valuable. I also REALLY like Tarcisio's method of teaching. Unlike a lot of academic conservatory teachers, he focuses on the music you are motivated to play and then provides instruction on the style and technical methods of playing a specific musical piece. He provided me with a detailed written homework assignment that was very prescriptive to what I need in order to improve my playing the Vivaldi Concerto in A Minor. His emphasis is not on endless hours of practicing scales, exercises and etudes from the books, he provides tailored assignments to improve style and technique to master playing a real piece of music of MY choice! I've never had this before in a teacher and really appreciate it. I was impressed with Tarcisio after my first lesson and certainly will continue working with him weekly. We have scheduled a specific hour every week for my lessons future lessons. This keeps me motivated to practice regularly with mindful focus and attention to progress quickly. Although everyone is different in who and what they prefer in a teacher, I specifically prefer Tarcisio's coaching style of teaching rather than the more authoritative style of most teachers I've had in the past. Based upon his professional level and skill in playing, I believe the lessons are well worth $65 for 60 minutes as well."

"I have been beyond pleased with Kate. Her energy is calm and encouraging and allows the student to creatively discover how learning works for them. As an adult, having never played ANY instrument before, Kate has been the perfect nurturing guidance on this journey. I've also seen her perform outside of lessons and she is clearly classically trained but pushing the boundaries as an what an artist "should be" which I love as someone learning a skill, to see all perspectives. Kate is on time and professional and I have nothing but positive to say about working with her!!!"
