In May, 2016, I graduated from Valencia College with an A.A. in Piano Performance. In 2014, I started teaching piano lessons for beginners. I taught for two years in an after school program at a middle school in Orlando. Now I teach private students.
A typical lesson with me looks something like this:
The student plays what they have practiced, and we work on any difficult areas and techniques for playing better.
We discuss the next lesson, making sure the student understands everything.
I expect my students to practice every day, just as I do. It is the only way to become proficient.
Hello. My name is Melody Cook. I began learning to play the piano when I was five. After pursuing other interests for several years, I decided to study piano performance at Valencia college, where I completed my degree in May of 2016 with a 4.0 GPA. I continued my education at UCF and graduated

I've been teaching guitar for 30 years. My students have gone on to play professionally, have their songs on iTunes and teach at the college level. Once I get an idea of what type of guitar you are interested in, and what style, I can develop a plan for you. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Hey there! My teaching career spans 10 years, from kids as young as 5 to adults in their 50s. I'm best with beginner/intermediate students looking to build their confidence on their 'instruments' - whether guitar, voice, or songwriting. It's most important that I get a feel for what *you* want to achieve from your lessons, thus I'm a flexible teacher - performing out, casual playing, professional writing, writing in your backyard, singing at parties, or singing behind the steering wheel. It's my job to provide you with the tools to sharpen your own, and bring other skills level with the areas in which you already dominate. As is the case for many (including myself as a kid), picking up an instrument often comes as the result of wanting to emulate another artist (my influences include Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and The Matrix songwriting team); this often translates to interest in the ability to play/write as early as possible. With this in mind, I've successfully promised my students ...
Hey there! My name is Jake, and I'm a lifetime musician. I began playing guitar and taking lessons 20 years ago (at age 8), and writing songs at 5!... my grandma recalls asking me to play "number 5" on the piano, and I'd do as I was asked, right from memory. Guitar, songwriting, and singing have lo

Dear Future Students,
I want to make your voice shine! My goal is to help you reach your goal of being a singer. I will help you anyway I can. We're going to have lots of fun learning different techniques. However, the most important things is getting to sing not only great, but also very healthy so that you can have a long career.
I have so many different things I teach. If you are looking for a voice teacher, I definitely can be of help. I have been singing all of my life. I sing in many different genres like pop, gospel, R&B, and classical. I can even help if you want to be an opera singer, as I am studying to be one mysel
She pinpoints exactly what I am doing wrong during my lesson and offers suggestions on how to correct it going forward. I appreciate that because if your instructor doesn't tell you, your audience will. And you might not like how they say it. I am there to go beyond just singing in the shower, and her constructive criticism only makes me better. She is also polite when she corrects you, she's not cracking the whip.
She focuses immediately on different techniques that will help you improve your voice so that you can PROGRESS, instead of just banging out scales on the piano lesson after lesson and overlooking mistakes a student may make like some instructors do. I hate to be this blunt, but there are some instructors I have met in the past who do just that (none of them are from takelessons) to me it shows a devotion to the art and a commitment to bringing out the best voice that you have she wants you to be as good as her! To me no one could ask for any more than that in a voice instructor. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a teacher.

My 11 year old son is taking lessons with Phil and he is a great teacher. He is very patient and explains thing well but doesn't dwell on things my son had already learned from a different teacher. He also does a good job of motivating my son to learn more and practice by teaching him songs that my son picked out."
Studies have shown that children who study music perform better in other subjects than their peers. One of the reasons for this boost is the creative thinking skills that music teaches. Even if you don't have formal music training, there are many things you can do to build a love for music in your child. It's never too early to start - even newborns enjoy listening to soothing lullabies. Below, check out of the different types of songs to sing that can encourage creativity in your toddler, presc …
