Hi, my name is Tanya and I have been teaching piano lessons since I was just 16 years old! What started as a fun activity during my childhood, turned into a lifelong passion.
I love teaching kids of all ages and figuring out different ways to make the lessons fun and enjoyable.
I was lucky enough to grow up with a mother who taught violin lessons all of her life. Watching her teach has been very educational and inspiring.

I offer individualized private lessons for children and adults. If you have taken lessons and want to continue your education, or you have always had a dream to play an instrument and are finally ready to start, I am happy to help and show you the path to the joy of music. I can teach you piano and flute, and will give you understanding of musical theory. I can prepare you for competitions and exams, or teach music just for fun - for your or your kids’ enjoyment.

My piano teaching experience covers over 3 decades. I am of a direct teaching lineage to the legendary Clara Schumann. My students have won competitions. I am a current Juilliard undergraduate with experience formally teaching beginner- intermediate level students. I welcome students of all levels who are interested in advancing their knowledge and ability to become pianistically proficient. For all my students, I emphasize the importance of practicing efficiently while developing critical listening skills. Although practicing might usually seem laborious, I strive to help students seek the enjoyment out of the music that they want to play.

When learning piano, students will have the fundamental knowledge of music theory that includes how to sight read music, counting rhythms, and learning how to play popular songs. They will learn step by step through the piano method books which will be assigned upon first lesson assessment.

I teach all styles both classical and contemporary pop. I have experience teaching all ages and love working with beginner kids. My teaching style is fun and flexible and I value my students and helping them reach their goals.
