I teach beginner oboe. I can help students learn to read music, play with good tone and technique, learn fingerings, and play from a book or school band music.

About Tina
Hello!

I've been teaching private lessons for over 15 years. I was a high school music teacher & band director in the Philadelphia area for 7 years, and I now live in Miami, FL where I am working on a doctoral degree in conducting. I also work as a freelance musician. I'm looking forward to making music with you!

Your lesson specifics are up to you! If you know what you want to learn, I'll help get you there. If you don't know where to start, I can lead you through the fundamentals and help you set goals.

I like to keep things positive in music lessons. Music is, after all, for fun and enjoyment! I like to blend teaching technique and musicianship, while keeping things fun.

If you're a beginner, we'll get started with all the fundamentals you need to begin making music. If you've been playing for a while, I'll help you perfect
things you've been working on, expand your musical experience, and help you reach your fullest potential as a musician.

Online lessons are a wonderful option! I am flexible with scheduling and allow changes up to 24-hours before a scheduled lesson. My home studio has chairs, music stand, and areas for parents to sit in on lessons. Garage band is available for recording. Students need an instrument and books.

To become an oboist, it is important to not only learn the music, but to put a little bit of yourself into every note you play. Playing such a unique and beautiful instrument like the oboe is a joy that I look forward to experiencing with each of my students. Every oboe lesson is customized to the individual's desires and needs. Throughout lessons, we will work on basic fundamentals, repertoire, and musicianship. With over 6 years of teaching experience, I am confident that you will be playing in no time! I also specialize in reed-making, and love helping students with their reeds, as well as sell personalized reeds.

About Emilia
I have been teaching private voice and oboe lessons since 2012. From pop to classical, I believe that as long as you maintain a healthy foundation, you can sing and play any style of music you want! Throughout my career, I have been featured as a vocalist and oboist on Billboard-charting and award-winning albums that vary in genre and style, and have learned that you can conquer any style you wish with the right fundamentals. I have been playing and singing since I was 8 years old, and recently graduated from the University of Southern California with my Masters in Oboe Performance, having graduated from Chapman University with my Bachelors in Music Performance with a double emphasis in Vocal and Oboe Performance in 2016.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, electric keyboard, acoustic guitar, oboe, english horn, video camera with profess
ional-level sound, iMAC, speakers.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Portable keyboard, music stand, laptop, iPad, recording devices that can have recordings sent to students after or during lessons!

Experienced teacher of 5 years! I love teaching oboe and reed-making! I've taught all levels of oboe students, from absolute beginner to high school seniors. I keep lessons fun and go at whatever pace the student prefers. My aim is to make music enjoyable and rewarding through achieving specific goals and having fun. I have a thorough, though flexible, curriculum to help my students achieve their goals, master the oboe, learn repertoire, and love music.

About Christian
I am a professional oboist, teacher, and reed-maker in the Manhattan area. In recent months, I've played with the Manhattan Opera Studio, New York City Master Chorale, and New York Repertory Orchestra, to name a few. As a performer, I have played in many large venues across America and South East Asia. Recently, I was invited to give a recital at the International Double Reed Convention in Tampa Florida. For the Summer of 2017, I was an instructional oboe intern at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, where I performed and gave private lessons and masterclasses to the school's pre-college division oboists. Since 2014, my private studio has achieved Superior scores in regional and state solo & ensemble competitions and placement in various honor ensembles. I am a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelors in Music and am curre
ntly pursuing a Master of Music at Manhattan School of Music.

As a teacher, I work to bring out the best in my students in a fun and encouraging way. My goal is keep music enjoyable for students while also helping them reach their goals and see their progress. I follow a thorough, but flexible, curriculum to help my students obtain a mastery of the oboe. In lessons, we will cover technique, repertoire, injury prevention, breath support, tone, and music history along with many other topics. Additionally, I love teaching reed making to all levels of students who are interested.

I feel completely at home teaching all levels, from absolute beginner to pre-college level players.

I love music and look forward to meeting you!

About Dianne R.

I have been teaching oboe for 20 years and have had students of many nationalities. The lessons will have a variety of materials and can be custom-made to meet the student’s needs and goals. We would study scales, etudes, solos, chamber music and composition. Oboe techniques such as vibrato, special fingering, tonguing, musicality, and suggestions for reeds would also be a part of the lesson. If possible, I love to play duets or at least demonstrate concepts and ideas. If the students would like to play a particular style or music, they just need to let me know.

About Dianne
I have both a bachelor and masters in music. I have been very fortunate to have amazing teachers: John Mack (Cleveland Orchestra), Pam Pecha (Cleveland Orchestra), Louis Rosenblatt (Philadelphia Orchestra) and Adrian Gnam (Mercer University). Playing oboe has allowed me to play in many orchestras throughout the world and make friends with many different nationalities. Music is really the universal language. I have performed with the Guangzhou Baroque Orchestra, National Symphony of Abu Dhabi, Jakarta Concert Orchestra, Bruxelles Orchestra, Canton Symphony (USA) and played in quintets and trios in the US, China, Taiwan and Abu Dhabi. While most of my playing has been classical, I also play jazz whenever I could and one of friends nicknamed my playing, “J-Oboe.” While most of my students did not pursue music degrees, one of students was a
ccepted and graduated from the Eastman School of Music.
