I have played oboe for 15 years. I studied at California State University, Northridge, where I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in oboe performance. I have been tutoring for over ten years, teaching students of all ages and levels. It is important to me that I get to know my students on a personal level, so I can cater lessons to their individual goals/learning styles. Whether you want to work on reeds, prepare for an audition, or learn that song from Frozen, I look forward to working with you!

The oboe is an amazing instrument! The oboe is unique because it uses a double reed.. I am so excited to teach you more about the oboe I am an interactive teacher who can assist you in many ways in regards to learning how to play the oboe including; correct posture, new breathing techniques, correct fingerings, alternative fingerings, half-hole technique, improved sight-reading skills, greater music theory knowledge, and performance skills. I recommend using the Essential Elements for Band book series. Once we connect and I can find out more about your playing level we can find the perfect book for your. I like to work on tone, technique, sight reading and musicality in lessons. I also play duets with students during lessons to work on tone blending as well as intonation.
I can also teach reed making and reed adjustment.

I have been teaching oboe lessons for seven years, and although the oboe is a difficult instrument, I believe you can learn to have a good sound early on with the right instruction! I am a professional oboist who loves sharing the fun of oboe with others. All experience levels are welcome and lessons will be catered to your needs and feedback on what you want to be able to play. I put a lot of emphasis on good tone, technique, sightreading, and some music theory. I really do look forward to working with you!

I have been playing oboe for 14 years! I have studied under Linda Strommen during my undergraduate degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. I am fortunate to have been able to perform in various ensembles across the world, including winning a resident principal oboe of the Freiburger Studenten-Orchester for the 2014-2015 season. I am able to work on fundamental concepts such as technique and music theory, as well as develop a musical concept and improve the musical creativity. Together, we can improve your overall proficiency on your oboe, as well as prepare for any audition and ensemble you’re interested in!
