I started taking drum lessons at age 22 so I felt too old to begin learning how to play a new instrument. I'm so glad that Dennis was my teacher. He gave me confidence and encouragement to become the great drum player I am today. His methods of teaching are well rounded, his lesson plans are efficient and since day one he guaranteed I would be ready to play songs with a band in only 6 months. Indeed I started playing with several bands after 6 months of having lessons with Dennis. I highly recommend him as a drum teacher and mentor!

V patient w/beginners and provided excellent tips and encouragement. Would recommend to anyone starting out on drums or adding another instrument to their repertoire. Provided great insight that also helped in cross-training, if already playing another instrument.

I've studied with several teachers over the years, but Dennis was the best. I was a novice and Dennis took me to the next level. I'm forever grateful.
Drumset only. I can teach students a variety of basic drum grooves in a variety of styles and can help students understand how to incorporate fills into their playing. I can also teach reading basics.
I am overjoyed and grateful to say I have been playing music for more than half of my life. It has never stopped being the light in my day and now it is my hope to shed some of that light onto you or your child. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience, even more importantly I love teaching and music with a passion.
I have been playing an instrument since the 4th grade (cello) and, as I learned more about how music works, was slowly able to pick-up a greater variety instruments with an increasing degree of ease. In high school, I decided to pick-up the guitar just to "have fun and rock out". I joined a band, played in the high school orchestra, joined the high school jazz band and began to practice songwriting and cover songs. Still, it was not until after I took my first class on music the
ory that I knew how much I not only loved the thrill of playing music but the discovery of how it worked. With this experience I can show you or your child why learning an instrument can be not only an exciting experience but an interesting and enthralling one as well.
I have been teaching music for over 7 years and have had the privilege of teaching children as young as 4 to adults in their late 80's. I am a very attentive teacher who can not only help get you moving in the right direction but keep you on that path until your are a self-sufficient musician. A level of musicianship that simply means you can learn whatever you want on your instrument on your own, whether it be for business, pleasure or for mere self-improvement.
Through my own student career in private lessons I had the chance to study with graduates of the Musician's Institute (MI), the California Institute of the Arts (CAL Arts) and Berklee College of Music. This has provided me with an inside look into how and what each institute teaches, as well as a first hand look at the techniques and ideas that the great players from these remarkable schools have come to produce.
My formal music education consists of 2 years at Pasadena City College where I obtained my general Associates Degree (much of the studies included music) and a semester at California State University Long Beach as a Jazz Guitar Performance Major. Additionally, I completed a great deal of California State University Long Beach's teaching credential program (focusing on the teaching of history/social studies), where I learned strategies and theories of how and what to teach my students - making me that much more knowledgable of my craft. At Pasadena City College I studied with jazz/classical guitarist, Ron Berman, who has played with such jazz greats as Herb Ellis and Jimmy Wyble. At Cal State Long Beach I studied with jazz guitarist Ron Eschete, a former teacher at MI who has toured with the likes of Ray Brown, John Dizzy Gillespie and Jim Hall.
Most importantly I hope to show you or your child a new way to love and appreciate music. And to provide you with the ability and know-how to have the most fun on your instrument as possible.
*** Lesson Details *** Throughout my lessons, I always encourage basic skills including scales, sight-reading and technical exercises. But what I hope to give all my students is a basic understanding of music and their instrument, providing them with a practical ability to navigate the vast world of music for a lifetime.
Beyond these skills, I always have songs, styles and theory for you to work on but I am often more interested in what you as an individual want to learn on your instrument. Getting to learn concepts that you have chosen yourself will help encourage practice and will make the finished product all the more the rewarding.
I can custom tailor a teaching curriculum and/or style for any of my students: we can focus on learning songs, learning to read, how to write music, how music works, and even how to play specific styles of music (including funk, rock, jazz, Latin, flamenco, classical, country and blues). I also self tailor my own worksheets and set weekly goals with my students to help encourage practice, understanding and progress. For students interested in more advanced concepts, I can also teach ear training, music theory, advanced jazz improvisation as well as advanced playing techniques.
All this in a friendly and easy-going teaching environment.

I've had three banjo teachers over the past two and a half years. Judging by Jared's performance today, he's the best of the lot. The first banjo teacher expected too much too soon, and the second one started me out with the basics, as if I had never picked up a banjo before. Jared is starting our lessons at the right stage for where I am. He's patient and explains things well. If I had started with him two and a half years ago, I'd be a decent banjo player by now. Thanks, Jared!!!!!
Beginning to Intermediate Drum lessons and beats that are actually used in today's and yesteryear's "hit songs".
It's no secret, drums is the backbone or "foundation" to any hit song.
I break down drumming to its most basic rudiments so that you will grow by leaps and bounds instead of just crawling along.
You have to walk before you can run so getting it right initially is very important to moving forward and getting you playing your favorite songs quickly and accurately..

You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules. This is how you develop your own unique style. And it's what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.
But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's okay too!
I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students. That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians.
Bottom Line Is... I can help you learn and progress on your instrument faster...

Outside of teaching percussion and musical performances I have worked in special education for over 15 years.
My life of music started knee high at the age of 4 playing drums and piano. At the age of 15 I gave my first musical performance, from that stage on I knew my talent had found a home.
In the 11th grade I toured with a local funk group in Washington DC through 26 cities learning music and the life of travel at an early age. During my last high school and college years I performed extensively playing classical, jazz, rock, funk, go-go, gospel, marching band, R&B, and with local rap artist.
Recording credits and highlights include work with Def Jam artist Steady Eddy, recording go-go Mario with Double Agent Rock, and recordings with Little Benny and the Masters.
My other musical passion is teaching. Throughout my col
lege years and beyond I served as a percussion instructor and assistant band director at Morgan State University. As part of the Morgan State University Magnificent Marching Machine I served as a instructional leader in music and performance mentor for the team. I taught part time as a percussion instructor at Milford Mill High School giving individual lessons for over 10 years.
Musical inspiration is an important element to the refinement of my craft. A few personal musical influences are Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Neil Peart (Rush), Dennis Chambers, (Santana), George Gray (Roberta Flack), Ricky Wellman (Miles Davis), Quinton Mack-Davis (Rare Essence) and Michael Bland (Prince).

My son’s first lesson went really well! Mr. Charles was really accommodating - as we were running late and he patiently waited and completed our full first session. My son is already looking to his next lesson.

Our son has never played in a marching band before but is interested in playing in the marching band when he attends college in July so we were specifically looking for an instructor who had marching band experience to teach our son since he's never participated in the marching band in high school. We saw Mr. Stewart's profile and decided to have him work with our son. That was the BEST decision that we could have ever made. We have been nothing but impressed with Mr. Stewart. He definitely has the gift of teaching and he is very patient, knowledgeable, and he challenges our son to get better by giving him homework after each session. Our son absolutely LOVES Mr. Stewart and he is always excited for each lesson and to practice what Mr. Stewart has taught him. Our son went from not playing in the marching band at all in high school to making his college band and receiving a scholarship all thanks to Mr. Stewart. We are very grateful for his outstanding teaching and we would definitely recommend Mr. Stewart 100%.
I've been teaching Drums since 2004 and recently started back January 2013. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play all rudiments and as time goes on you'll be able to play in bands and in JH and HS bands. I typically use the Haskell Harr, and now include Alfred's Drum Method book for Snare; Tommy Igo for drum-set. His posters from Vic Firth are great resources. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels; I can't wait to meet you!

Hi, my name is Josh Weinberg. I have over 10 years experience teaching drums & about 5 years experience teaching music production, & music theory (to all different ages). My son enjoyed the lesson and wanted to practice right away.
August 29, 2018
Josh is always easy to be around and is able to form any lesson around what I wanted to do, as well as teach me loads of new ideas if I hadn’t planned anything. He has greatly helped improve my own production and give me insight into what professional producers do to set themselves apart. He’s great to work with and always in an uplifting mood.
August 21, 2018
Josh is an awesome teacher. He is patient and supportive and always comes up with ways to connect me to the concept he’s teaching. I asked to learn drums “the right way” so we spend a ton of time on fundamental exercises that i suspect are boring for him but he never shows it. He is always upbeat and positive and I enjoy our lessons a lot. Could not recommend him more highly.
I love teaching a balance of having fun on drums with building technique and knowledge to deepen and mature the fun as the student grows.
Any style of music is covered, what do YOU want to play? At the same time, a solid grounding in the fundamentals is a focus, to give the student an unlimited creative palette to draw from.
I've been making music since I started piano lessons at 6 years old. I love teaching and have been doing so privately and in classroom settings throughout my career.
My wife and are empty nesters of three children but no grandchildren yet... .
Musically, I started with classical piano and progressed to jazz and pop music as a teenager. In junior high, playing trumpet in band progressed to playing bass in jazz ensemble. Finally, acoustic guitar satisfied my need for something to play songs with that was more portable than a keyboard.
Initially, my desire to be a studio session musician resulted in pursuing a wide variety of musical skills, instruments, and segments of the music world. From arranging and composing for orchestra and rap albums, to audio engineering/consulting and music typesetting, my experience became very di
verse. Loving so many styles of music, I played professionally such diverse things as salsa piano, folk guitar, jazz bass, and funk drumming. I also love teaching and have developed curricula for several schools as well as guest-taught at numerous universities and conferences.
career highlights: -international touring with multiple artists and bands, 45 countries -record producer with 100+ projects and developed producer curriculum for audio trade school -conference speaker and guest university instructor all over the world teaching music and creativity -skill on multiple instruments and styles as well as extensive experience in the world of audio and teaching music theory
teaching highlights: I traveled quite a bit as a guest teacher/speaker, so an exhaustive list is not practical. Some highlights include:
-Oral Roberts University - Tulsa (8 years in multiple roles) -Southeastern University - Florida -MediaTech Institute - Texas -LPI Hernhutt - Germany (3 months) -Created to Worship - England (2 years) -and of course, numerous conferences, clinics, workshops all over the place
I've been asked numerous times "how many instruments do you play?" Well, I can get around on most anything. However, I don't play anything bowed (like violin or cello) nor the steel guitar. The instruments I teach are those I have the most background and have played professionally with.
Please contact me if you have any questions, I would love to talk with you!
My 6 years old son wanted to take piano lessons and it was always my dream to learn to play on piano as well. I am happy we found Austin. Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate drummer, good hand-eye coordination will help you develop accuracy and control. Here are some tips from music teacher Tracy D., to help you improve your hand-eye coordination...
When you're learning drums, you need to watch and sense where your hands are in relation to the kit. It's easy to let your hands outrun your field of vision, and this can result in sloppy execution.
Pay attention to your hands; make sure they land in the right place, …
