About Farobag
Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

*** Lesson Details ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.

*** CD's***
Classical Energy, Triton Sound, TS 8501
Salut D'Amour, Triton Sound, TS 9014

I've been playing a few instruments for 23 years, and finally decided to get into violin. Farobag made me realize that I know next to nothing about the violin, and there is so much to learn. I played only a few notes in my first lesson, but his instruction was worth every penny. I am very excited for the next lesson and look forward to learning everything I can from Farobag. Highly recommended.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessons. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general.
Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

This tutor does not fill the total time paid for. If the student has no more questions, rather than structuring the lesson like other tutors he will simply finish early! I am sure he is very knowledgable, but his accent is very strong, making learning a newer subject harder through trying to understand new words with a strong accent.
A fan was constantly ticking in the background, and he admitted his internet connection was poor.

My math lessons are unique in that I develop a connection with students that allow them to feel comfortable telling me "I don't understand." This is often the hardest barrier that parents believe their child has when being taught, and I'm often warned by the parent before I arrive that the student fakes understanding around his teachers or other tutors. But being 23 years old allows me to be a teacher and a friend at the same time and I feel that this smaller age gap between student and teacher is what makes them feel comfortable opening up to me, which they do with ease. After tutoring over 30 students in math ranging from middle school arithmetic to college calculus 2 to adults taking qualifying exams, I have been confidently able to identify exactly how the students are processing their math assignments just by watching them try to solve a single problem. After that, I just focus on correcting their way of thinking. My goal of tutoring is for the students to not need my help ...

About Emily
"It's not about learning, it's about understanding."

Hi! My name is Emily and I am 23 years old. I am originally from Massachusetts, where I earned my degree in physics at Boston College before moving to central Florida in August 2017. I took off with just what I could fit in my car and drove from Massachusetts to Orlando to try a new life on my own. Tutoring was an accidental passion that definitely saved me. I was messaged around midnight by a worried mother telling me her son received a 0 on his last chemistry exam, and that the teacher gave him a day to take it home to retake for partial credit. At this time I had been applying and applying to jobs with no luck so I jumped on the opportunity and messaged her back right away. The next night I was at their house for hours helping their son understand the material and retake the exam. H
e received the full partial credit on the test. After 1 more session with him the folllowing week, he had another exam. He received a 100%! His mother was in shock and at that moment I realized I had something special. I loved the nights we spent fighting through material just as much as I loved the nights where everything just clicked for him. Since then, I have tutored over 30 students in subjects including (not limited to) middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, college algebra, pre-calculus, liberal arts math, arithmetic, college calculus 2, biology, AP chemistry, AP physics, college physics, and test prep including SAT, GED, GRE, GKT, and ASVAB. I attribute my success to not focusing on memorization because problems memorized are problems forgotten! Instead, I teach the students how to teach themselves how to start a problem because even complex problems are just series of simple steps disguised by complicated word problems and extraneous information. It's not about learning, it's about understanding. So far I have been blessed with students who will openly tell me "I do not understand" which is an awesome thing to say! It gives me a great place to start: from the beginning. (It's okay if you don't say you don't understand...I will still know ;) ) Often students will just say they do not know how to start a problem, but this hides a deeper dependence on memorization and lack of conceptual understanding. The only way to teach true understanding is to let go of the conventional concept of memorization. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and I hope to hear from you soon!
Best,
Emily

Math can be intimidating to students. I know because it used to be this way for me. However, with the help of a fantastic professor I fell in love.

I found that understanding why operations are performed as they are intended helped me to finally see the pieces fall into place. Thus, my approach to any mathematics revolves around understanding they why just as much as how to implement the techniques.

I also assist students in finding the way that best suits them to properly study the subject. Math, unlike other subjects, requires repetitive practiced application. Developing the proper study skills and fine tuning organizational skills go a very long way in being a successful math student.

About Jessica
I am studying for an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Texas, Dallas. I have an Associate in Science degree from Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, Texas. I am also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for academic excellence and received a place on the All-State Academic Team.

While working towards my degree I have run many study and tutoring groups where students saw an average increase of a full letter grade. I also assisted students individually. I spent just under three years working as a biology lab assistant with Eastfield College. My job responsibilities included assisting individuals with the material presented in lab, writing experiments that supported information learned in lecture, and assisting in creating new lab manuals.

Learning should be individualized to every student. I not
only work with students on the material, but also place an emphasis in organizational and study skills. I encourage students to think about the why and how to deepen understanding.

For over seventeen (17) years I have tutored middle school, high school, and college students mathematics from algebra through calculus. I have graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma with a Master of Science in Mathematics. I usually tutor at the Edmond Public Library and prefer tutoring in public, quiet settings. Also I teach algebra and calculus at Oklahoma City Community College. I have evening and weekend times available for tutoring appointments. Please contact me once you are ready to get started! Hope to meet you soon!

About Rebecca
Students during the lessons are actually working on their homework from school during the tutoring sessions and are often times learning faster on a one-to-one basis than in classroom setting, usually understanding a concept in 15 minutes or less while doing several problems. Many students have increased their grades in their math classes due to tutoring with me once or twice a week. Hundreds of successful students!

My tutoring career began as a sophomore in high school when I started to tutor a family friend. After that, I led my own free tutoring program at my local library for underserved children. It was a great experience for me to develop a mentorship with the kids and to develop my leadership skills. Once I graduated high school, I got a summer job with Jose Valdes Math Institute. Since college began, I’ve been doing a lot of one-on-one tutoring with students and I absolutely love it. Math rocks!

As a tutor, I realize that all students learn things in different ways. I try my best to help the student understand the material, not just to memorize it. If the student doesn’t understand it, I try to approach the problem a different way. Having a stable foundation of understanding is especially important when it comes to subjects like math and science, in which the material is cumulative.

About Yazmin
Hi! My name is Yazmin and I am the oldest of five. I was born and raised in San Jose, California and now I attend university only 15 minutes away from home, lucky me! I enjoy working out and I am always up for anything outdoors— hiking, picnics, bicycling you name it! I am a junior bioengineering major at Santa Clara University. My freshman year, I was one of thirty first year students to be awarded for outstanding academic achievement. Once I graduate, I hope to attend medical school and one day become a physician.
