Hello fellow guitar explorer! I can teach whatever style of guitar you're interested in (blues, rock, pop, funk, jazz, etc.) as well as music theory, sightreading, and songwriting. My approach to teaching is holistic—you're not just going to learn how to play your favorite songs, but how they work and how to create music of your own. My goal as your teacher is to give you the tools to develop a positive and inspiring relationship to your instrument.

Hi! My name is Telesmar, and I am a professional jazz guitarist and guitar teacher. I have 19 years of guitar experience and an MFA in jazz guitar studies from CalArts. I've played hundreds of gigs across all sorts of genres and I've had dozens of students of all ages and experience levels. I have a strong passion for teaching and helping others deepen their connection to music. I hope we get to explore the guitar together!

I'm an older beginning guitar student, and I've been studying with Teles for about a little over a year. I can't believe the progress I've made. I'm able to move fluidly through song chords and even add a flourish here and there. Teles has given me so many tips on how to make my playing sound better with less effort, and he's also helped me find so much more confidence in my playing. I'm having so much fun and I'm so grateful to be working with him.

I needed some guitar lessons to understand a few jazz pieces I was playing. The chord shapes and how they fit into the song seemed complicated. Telesmar’s lessons were extremely helpful and easily explained, on how to play along and sound good performing these pieces live. He’s very patient, down to earth and knowledgeable. I still use what I learned then, today. He’s a great teacher from beginner to advanced.
