Influenced early on by family members to play music, Robbie’s interest in drums has flourished into a limitless groove. It started around 8 years of age with a pair of sticks, a practice pad and some simple rudiments. His grandma was his first teacher and passed on the basics of technique and rhythm. Although it wasn't until around 14 or 15 that Robbie started to really get into the drum set, he always loved alternative rock and felt a strong connection with great music. Throughout the nineteen years he’s been playing, Robbie earned an Associate of Arts in Music Performance on drums from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he studied with many talented drummers including Tommy Igoe, Rob Carson and Fred Dinkins. He's also played and recorded with various bands covering styles from rock, blues, reggae, funk, jazz, R&B and punk. Robbie's professional teaching journey began at School of Rock in 2016, Where he had the chance to work with hundreds (if not thousands!) of students from all ages and skill levels at SoR San Jose and SoR Oceanside. Robbie was lucky to help get many kids into house band and even got some star students prepped for All Stars. Although he started with private lessons, he's now gone on to teaching various group classes, as well as directing for performance groups. After spending many years as a student under some great, even legendary Drum teachers; Robbie has learned to emulate the best aspects of education that he picked up. Only learn what works! A seasoned teacher; Robbie is able to coach complete beginners all the way up to a college/professional level and everything in between. The carefully thought out method involves a very holistic no-nonsense education in Rudiments, Technique, Reading, Timekeeping, Style Studies, Coordination, Independence, Soloing/comping concepts and much more. Robbie also has experience working with rudimental/marching band drummers with single surface playing (snare), quads and basic mallet percussion. Through teaching, Robbie is able to share his passion for drums as well as the positivity music brings into his life. Drum Power!!!!!
