Piano with Michael

Hello, my name is Michael, I'm a concert pianist with a passion for teaching real, applicable skills in piano playing and musicianship to students of all ages and experience levels. My 20+ years of experience in all capacities as a pianist and musician - whether as soloist, chamber musician, accompanist to opera singers and instrumentalists, composer, music theorist, conductor - in all styles of classical music and beyond has enabled me to accumulate a repository of knowledge which could benefit students in a wide variety of ways. My pricipal belief as a teacher is attunement to the specific needs and personality of each student, in order to find the most direct and logical way to expand their abilities and develop skill sets in their areas of interest. As a student myself of many master pianists and musicians, at the Curtis Institute and Juilliard school, international music festivals and competitions, I am able to spread knowledge from these diverse sources, combining this background with my own journey of self-illumination through the many years of practice and performance experience in order to give the student a genuine and thorough grounding in craft, technique, and artistic awareness. I meet students where they are at, without judgment or unneccessary pressure, and attempt to the best of my ability to guide them in a direction of growth and self-generated passion for practice and achievement.
