We live in a globalized, multicultural world. Sadly, our education system does not emphasize the value of interconnected humanities and only teaches the same rote subjects. My mission is to bring to you knowledge of the past and present cultures that shape our world today. You’ll also develop crucial reading and analysis, critical thinking and research, and writing and rhetorical (argumentative) skills. Through extensive historical research for primary and secondary sources in library databases, we’ll discover compelling narratives in many diverse cultures. This class will be crucial for your developing mind and your global cultural awareness, enabling you to understand and appreciate diverse cultures. My tutoring strives to instill global cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation. My topics for our sessions will be: Europe: Roman and Medieval Era, Christianity, Enlightenment, Asia: Confucianism, Chinese dynasties, Southeast Asia, Japan and Philippines Africa: Coptic Christianity, African lore, African civilizations Middle East: Greece, Asia Minor (modern day Turkey), Israel and Jerusalem, Iran, Persia, Islam, Arabs, Islamic thought America: Native Americans, American pilgrims, settlers, pioneers, presidents, Constitution, rights, liberty, justice Themes: women’s rights; slavery in Rome, Africa, and America; Christianity, Islam, and Judaism; social justice, philosophy, literature, arts, culture, and traditions that are passed down in diverse societies.
