With 2 degrees in music and more than 12 years of teaching experience, I offer piano and voice lessons to any age and any level! I consider the most important aspect of teaching to be creating an environment where a love of music can be discovered and nurtured. Everyone is offered the opportunity to discover and deepen their love of music. I chose to make music my career so that I can guide you on your priceless journey towards becoming a better musician...a better person. *** Lesson Details *** I do not use one set curriculum. Instead, I have familiarized myself with a dozen various curriculum, and choose the best fit for each individual student. I am open to using books you already own as supplemental material and encourage students to share their suggestions in selecting music. Every student has different goals, and I tailor the lessons to meet them. Within the first lesson, we will set short and long term goals and lesson plans will be made to help you achieve them. I provide accompaniment and melody recordings for vocal students to practice with. Material will be sent home with you to peruse at your convenience. This will include articles from music dictionaries, archives, journals and more to give you an opportunity to become a well rounded musician. ***covid-19*** The doorbell, doorknobs, piano, bench, music, stand, etc...are all sanitized between each student/family. I will wear a mask upon request for piano lessons. Due to breathing necessities, masks are not worn by student or instructor for singing lessons, but a 6ft distance is maintained. *** Studio Equipment *** Upright piano in living room with waiting area for parents so they may sit in on lessons. Music stand provided for voice lessons. *** Travel Equipment *** Some music may be provided by myself and I am also willing to work with certain books the student may already own. There will be at least one book required for purchase. I expect students to have a pencil and notebook at every lesson. Water is welcome and encouraged for vocal students. Parking is available on the street directly outside the studio. *** Specialties *** Too often I have seen damage caused to the vocal chords from an instructor's lack of knowledge in developing voices. I am proud to offer voice lessons where I specialize in working with young voices that are still maturing! I provide piano accompaniment for vocal lessons at no additional cost. I also make accompaniment recordings for the students to practice with. This allows me to transpose songs, letting students learn songs that might otherwise be out of their vocal range. It also allows for flexibility in the tempo so students can learn at a slower pace and increase speed as they become more comfortable. I believe in teaching a well rounded curriculum and therefore introduce my students to the styles of all genres.
