I am passionate about using my experience to help you learn how to bring your stories and ideas to life through drawing and maintaining a sketchbook. Whether you have never drawn before and have 0 art skills or you used to draw but haven't drawn in a long time, you can learn to draw and draw well. All you need is the knowledge and consistent practice. We will go through the fundamental elements of art that all artists need to know and which forms the basis of all works of art. We will also go over the art creation process so you will know how to use those elements to create art easily and consistently. I will help you develop an almost daily drawing habit that will give you the practice mileage you need to get better over time. I am an independent illustrator, and I've been drawing since I was seven. I graduated from The New York City College of Technology with an Associate in Applied Arts and have spent the last 10 years honing my skills and helping others do the same. By applying the techniques taught and keeping an almost daily drawing habit, beginners can expect to improve over time. I teach my students how to master the elements of art that all artists need to learn. This helps them advance quickly and confidently in their newfound skills as proficient artists. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy drawing in my sketchbook using my colored pencils to sketch quick, colorful portraits, landscapes, and doodles. These quick drawings help keep my skills sharp as I plan my next project. Creating a sketchbook filled with little drawings that tell your story will be an exciting experience for you. I look forward to helping you begin.

Keisha is the best of what tutoring platforms can offer: she's knowledgeable, fluid, patient, kind, and more than able to guide you along your drawing journey while encouraging your own individual expression with the artform. I felt an immediate comfortability with Keisha, which translated into - I believe - an increased experience with our instruction and my private studies. She kept me at ease which nurtured an artistic freedom that, as a beginning drawer, I truly appreciate. Keisha also maintained a correct balance between her own pedagogy and my particular wants as a complete beginner -- something other instructors might not offer. Additionally, Keisha's deep experience and diverse skill with the craft allowed for broader conversations regarding artisans and eras, methodologies, styles, etc. that simply INCREASE one's appreciation for drawing specifically, and art in general.
