Bass Guitar with Johnny L.

I am a multi instrumentalist with 10 years of teaching experience working with students of all ages and experience levels in a variety of styles and genres of music. I received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in classical violin performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where I also studied viola and jazz improvisation. As a performer, I have played violin with several regional Illinois symphony orchestras and have performed as a freelance violinist/violist around the Champaign-Urbana area and beyond since 2011. I have also performed guitar, bass guitar, drum set and vocals for local and regional touring bands of different genres/styles since 2009. I have experience teaching the following instruments/musical concepts: violin, viola, guitar, bass guitar, drum set, composition, songwriting, arranging, ear training, note and rhythm reading, music pedagogy, and music theory. I tailor all of my lesson plans to the needs and interests of the individual student. I really enjoy working with my students to help learn how to make music while also building confidence in themselves!
