    I tailor the class to meet the needs of the students, whether it be basic English skills or proofreading on job applications, correspondence and websites. We balance chatting with reading and working on pronunciation and building vocabulary.

    Playing classical Spanish music is what originally hooked me on the piano as a kid and later the world of flamenco, its dance and history, ensnared me, furthering my interest in rhythm and dynamics. My training on piano helped me with my mastery of castanets, and other percussion instruments, such as tamborine and cymbals, For 18 years, I produced and curated NYC's internationally touring Dance on Camera Festival, co-produced by Film at Lincoln Center. I have enjoyed making scores for short videos and documentaries. My experience teaching piano, dance and ESL has been very rewarding as I always discover new worlds through my students.

    I have a sensitive 6 year old girl who's shy of strangers and I was worried before the lesson that she might not participate. When Deirdre arrived my daughter immediately warmed to her and had a wonderful lesson. It was a special moment for her and for me as I am a lifelong pianist.

    ACMP — The Chamber Music Network is a non-profit organization that facilitates informal music-making by people of all ages and nationalities, from beginners to professionals. Founded as a non-profit organization in 1947, ACMP, originally the Amateur Chamber Music Players, was the idea of Leonard Strauss, an American businessman whose work frequently included travel. Tired of practicing alone in hotel rooms, he dreamed of a network of musicians who could contact each other for chamber music sessions while at home or “on the road.”
