Were you enchanted by the flute from the first time you saw it? Do you wonder how to make long phrases and fast fingers sound effortless? My name is Claire, and I am a professional flutist… but I like to think of myself as a professional sound explorer. Like you, I have loved the flute since I first set eyes on it. My first flute teacher was my mom, and I realized early on that my goal was to be a professional musician. Since then I have received a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance, Master of Music in Flute Performance, and performed on stage at Carnegie Hall itself. I have been teaching flute lessons for nearly ten years, and work with flutists of all ages to find their most beautiful tone, develop fluid and fast fingers, and reach their musical goals. I love music of all styles and genres, from flute and guitar duos to contemporary solo flute to Billie Eilish! Through flute lessons with me, you will learn all my tips, tricks, and flute hacks. My teaching style is infused with physical awareness, curiosity, and play, along with songwriting techniques and movement exercises. I know exactly what it feels like to be super nervous for a lesson or performance, too… I’ll never forget the time I forgot what came next in a piece I had memorized… in the middle of the audition! Whether you are a total beginner, preparing for Honor Band auditions, or approaching college auditions, I have been there myself and am excited to geek out over the flute together!
