    Jazz & Modern Music Theory

Music-theory lessons where you will have the opportunity to explore and expand your knowledge of music theory, music history, jazz improv, and performance. The course is designed to develop a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles of music theory, including chord progressions, scales, and melodic structures. Additionally, we will dive into the rich history of music from various eras and cultures, as well as exploring contemporary musical styles. Our class also focuses on jazz improvisation techniques that provide students with essential skills necessary for creating unique pieces of music. We will examine various improvisational methods employed by accomplished musicians across different genres, with an emphasis on jazz. Performance is an integral component of this class where students are encouraged to play an instrument or sing in front of others. Through live performances and discussions in a supportive classroom setting, students can identify strengths while developing areas needing improvement. Our goal is to build student's confidence in their ability to comprehend the nuances of musical compositions through intensive listening exercises and analytical assessments. In conclusion, our comprehensive approach ensures that students acquire a solid foundation in music-theory while having opportunities for personal growth through live performance.
