Math with Annika L.

Hi! I'm Annika, a math tutor attending college in Claremont, California (at Harvey Mudd College). I believe everyone is capable of improving their math skills and even enjoying math! I love tutoring because watching people grow their skills and comfort with math is wonderful. My tutoring experience is with 6th-12th graders and college students learning algebra and calculus concepts; I've tutored one-on-one and assisted teachers in the classroom. I'm happy to tutor almost any math subject, from middle school math to college-level math courses such as multivariable calculus, linear algebra, or discrete mathematics. Although I don't specialize in it, I am also qualified and happy to tutor K-12 science content! I can also help students prepare for the SAT, especially the math section. In your first lesson with me, we'll talk about your attitudes towards whatever we're working on and what sort of tutoring you want, and set goals to work towards together. Then, we'll get to tutoring! I believe in learning by doing; I try to give tutees just enough information so they can solve a problem — I think that the more you think for yourself about a solution, the more likely you are to understand and remember the concepts involved.
