    Harmonic Structures in Music Theory

Music theory is the study of the fundamental principles underlying music. It is a discipline that aims to understand how music works, both on a theoretical and practical level. The goal of this class is to introduce students to the basic concepts of music theory, and help them develop their understanding of music. Over the course of the class, we will explore a range of topics related to music theory. We will examine concepts such as scales, intervals, chords, and progressions, as well as more complex topics like harmony and counterpoint. Through listening exercises and analysis of musical compositions from various genres and historical periods, students will learn how these theoretical concepts are applied in practice. The class will also provide students with an opportunity to develop their own compositional skills. By exploring different techniques for composing melodies and harmonies, students can use this knowledge to create their own original pieces. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to engage with the material actively. They will have access to online resources such as audio recordings, written materials and video lectures that they can review at their leisure. Regular assessments throughout the term will help monitor individual progress while giving feedback on areas that need improvement. In conclusion, this music-theory class offers an immersive exploration into the fundamental principles of music using keywords like scales, intervals, chords among others . Students who take this class can expect to enhance their comprehension about creating and appreciating good music while expanding on existing knowledge in musical theory.

    Acerca de Amy L.

I am a professional singer, pianist, songwriter, and recording artist. I graduated from the University of Houston Bachelors of Music, specifically piano and voice. Piano and Vocal students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. I teach piano students of all different ages and experience levels. I studied classical piano for 16 years, and contemporary keyboard for 7 of those. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student. As a professional recording artist I frequently take trips to Nashville for co-writing, recording, and My personal passion is contemporary music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
