Merhaba! My name is Alara and I am 26 years old. I am originally from Istanbul, Turkey but currently live in Colorado. I graduated from CU Boulder with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and minor in Italian. I have always loved learning languages. Even as a kid, I would prefer to read and speak in English and started to learn Italian, my third language as early as 8 years old. I also have a passion for teaching. I have been a learning assistant at CU and during my high school years have tutored topics like English and Italian. My biggest goal as a teacher is to ensure that you reach your language learning goals, whether that be fluency, accuracy, or simply the ability to carry a conversation. I provide interactive and engaging lessons that encourage active participation and meaningful communication. Learning a new language can be a daunting task, but by creating a supportive and entertaining learning environment I seek to cultivate a sense of autonomy in each of my students. Each lesson will be tailored to the student and their specific needs. During the first lesson, we will establish the level of fluency and any areas that may need improvement. My teaching style is interactive, so during lessons we will focus on oral comprehension skills through specific scenarios. I will also share tips and techniques I have utilized throughout my language learning journey, which will allow you to feel motivated and confident in your own journey.
