Singing with Akiko S.

Akiko (they/them) has over 25 years of vocal experience, including recording, songwriting, and extensive stage performance, having toured the US, Mexico, Europe, and Japan. They are a teacher at multiple music schools and have taught students from pre-K beginners through advanced professionals. Passing on techniques learned over many years from the stage and recording studio, Akiko throughly enjoys helping students to get in touch with their own voice and unique talents. Akiko's teaching style is movement-based and incorporates full-body mindfulness, encouraging each student to become connected to their body as an instrument, to discover their full vocal power, and strengthen their stage presence. As a natural alto, one of Akiko's specialties is greatly expanding vocal ranges. Akiko mostly works in the spectrum of pop to rock, but can work in many other popular styles as well. Since every singer is unique, students pick as much of their own repertoire as they want, and together we work on the aspects of voice that matter the most to them.
