Piano lessons always begin with an assessment of a students’ current skill level, along with their music strengths and aptitudes. Basic piano lessons introduce the student to the foundations of playing piano, including proper body posture, technique at the keyboard, learning the keys and pedals, and sight-reading. Intermediate piano lessons further these foundational studies, introducing the student to scales and arpeggios, basic music theory, and more challenging piano pieces while clarifying the course of future studies (classical, contemporary, or both). Advanced piano lessons continue to explore and expand on previous areas of study to prepare the student for more difficult piano pieces, along with the introduction of ear-training and music history.
