TakeLessons IN Eligibility and Ranking Parameters

TakeLessons IN is designed to present students with the most relevant tutor-provider listings. The TakeLessons IN user experience provides many options to engage with provider listing pages, algorithmic and curated lists, search, and provider detail pages. We optimize the user experience through testing and experimentation that includes but is not limited to organization of search results, creative design, and updating our parameters to ensure relevancy, compatibility, quality, and security. We consider multiple parameters that apply to curated placements, algorithmic lists, and search results page, and which are weighted relative to each other, where the user is looking within TakeLessons IN, and the user's preferences. These parameters include:

  • Compliance with the TakeLessons IN Policies and Code of Conduct — TakeLessons IN strives to only show users provider listings that comply with our Policies and Code of Conduct.
  • Revenue — Revenue of provider listings by descending order.
  • User Engagement — Provider listings by descending order of usage.
  • Update date — Provider listings update date from the most recent to oldest.
  • Customer Ratings — Provider listings in descending order of average rating.
  • Audience relevance — Ensuring relevancy for all audiences or a particular audience (e.g., location, interests, device type, operating system, or other factors).
  • Editorial value — Curating and experimenting with provider listings that are new and exciting, offer unique value, and/or are on trend.
  • Ads – Providers may be able to pay to be displayed in clearly marked sections of TakeLessons IN through advertising. Ads are always clearly designated with a label, like 'sponsored' or 'ad'.
