About Jimmy

*** Travel Equipment *** I will bring my own guitar and amp *** Specialties *** I am fluent in every possible style. At some point I have performed in every type of band and expose my students to many different styles and techniques. I recently got off tour with a country band from Nashville, but have performed jazz, metal, rock, blues, soul, classical, fusion. I specialize in those students who really want to put in the time to seriously learn their instrument, but if you want to have fun just playing by the campfire that's cool too. I'm cool, laid back and love a good laugh. I have taught hundreds of students on all levels and styles over the years and to answer your question yes anyone can play if they invest the time needed to learn and yes you are gonna have clumsy fingers from ...

After a month studying under Jimmy my guitar skills have skyrocketed. I didn't realize how much I was stuck on a plateau until I compare recordings from a month ago. Jimmy has assisted me in reaching new levels of lead guitar and knowledge of theory so that I am now playing lead roles and improvising beyond what I thought capable. I have the technique, skills and self confidence to take lead with my band, and my fellow band members have all asked what my secret has been in my phrasing and solo's; the secret is simple a great instructor and structured practice. Now my practice time is much more productive. Jimmy really understands how to custom teach and improve weaknesses I was unable to even understand without his help. Thanks Jimmy for helping me reach new goals and my true potential.

After 2 lessons with Jimmy I have improved on my overall technique and cleaning up my tones as well increased speed; more progress than past two months. Jimmy is extremely knowledgeable and takes you to the next level. If you listen to his instruction and do the practice time you will improve. I'll be so much more prepared for my next gig. Thanks Jimmy!

Jeremy has been teaching baritone to our son for over a year. We appreciate his patience, positive friendly attitude and encouraging words to our child. Jeremy has made learning an instrument fun, and is always challenging our son to remember what they went over in each lesson, and what the focus is going to be for the following week. He has been flexible to accommodate our schedule needs as well. We would highly recommend Jeremy for all levels of instruction!

On Pitch

I am a Deacon in the Catholic church and I am over 70 years old. At my church, my pastor expects me to sing at the Easter services. I am known for not being able to sing anywhere near on any key. I would sing in the key of "R". Last year I took all three choirs off key for their responses. In addition, my past efforts, included taking a person playing a guitar off key. Jacob evaluated me and said that I had the capability to sing on pitch. So I began the lessions 2 months ago. I was very pleased with my resluts this Easter. Many people noticed a great improvement in my singing and the choirs were able to respond on key!! I have a great deal more confidence in my singing capabilities. I can testify that Jacob did get me to sing on pitch with excelent results. Thank you Jacob and I will continue with the lessons improving on my capability for next Easter.

Lydia taught my daughter both harp and piano for 8 years. She is an excellent teacher. I could not have asked for better. Lydia is extremely musical, and is professional, yet down-to-earth, kind and friendly. She is very patient and has pleasant to be around. She has recorded CD's of her harp music, has played with orchestras, and has attended many music study programs. Her musical ability is superior and she LOVES to share her the joy of playing both harp and piano to others. Lydia is also flexible with the pieces she teaches. She is very good at teaching the classical pieces and exercises, but also can teach pop and other genres. She has two recitals a year which are in a relaxed atmosphere but still give the student the performance experience. GREAT TEACHER!

Years ago, Lydia was kind enough to try Skype lessons with us, given we are 8-9 hours away from her. We sought a Bible believing, Faith-oriented Christian Harp teacher and she was it! We have been delighted with her teaching, her love for music and for working with the students. We have had the privilege of watching her play in the Orchestra and, traveling the 8-ish hours for Spring and Fall recital and hearing her play with the students and encourage the students on their playing in the recitals. She even recently coached us through a pedal harp purchase and her help was invaluable. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for piano and or Harp instruction.

I have been taking Latin lessons with Ben for some time and am very pleased with his method. I have never studied Latin before, so we began from scratch, using a lesson plan built by Ben with the help of college-level textbooks. Ben has been very diligent and disciplined in building demanding but realistic lesson plans every week, as well as in creating thorough and helpful practice exercises. On top of this Ben is a polite, pleasant and accommodating fellow, open to questions and suggestions. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to study Latin.

Szu-Yu is very knowledgeable and skilled, everything stated about her is correct. I am very please that she is willing to work with me and discuss how I play, I am almost 60 years old and can play some. She is not judgmental but very positive and encouraging. She is not intimidated by my age, (my daughter is older). She knows her stuff and is very confident.
We meet at a practice facility in a college, that is fun and interesting.
My money is being well spent and I am learning things that should help me to grow and enjoy the piano, and possible reach a personal goal to be able to play at church.

How Often Should You Tune a Piano?
Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life. You may notice, especially if you have a keen ear or a tendency to sing along with your practice, that your piano drops in pitch, particularly during the summer and winter months. This is because your piano is mostly made of wood, and your wooden soundboard will contract when the weather is drier -- or the heating is on! -- and cause the pitch of the strings to drop. While kn
