It's a common misconception people have that when they take music lessons, they will end up with an awkward teacher who spends more time showing off than teaching them anything. This is actually true, but that's where I stand out. In addition to being an excellent instructor with 10 years experience at professional music schools, I am relevant. I keep up with new music, so you are guaranteed to learn more songs than Stairway to Heaven. I play in local bands, music is my life, and I love teaching it to anyone with the desire to learn. *** Lesson Details *** While I teach guitar, drums, piano, and bass, from beginner to professional levels, and I have tons of experience in songwriting, recording, social media, Protools, Logic, and Garageband, guitar is my forté. Jan has been teaching drums for over 6 years to students ranging from 4 years old to adults in their forties.
He teaches exercises and techniques that allow students to break down the movements of their hands and feet on the drum kit into specific strokes that can then methodically be practiced to attain proficiency, control and speed on the instrument.
To keep things fun and interesting we learn covers in a variety of styles and difficulty levels, and develop our reading skills to further our understanding and technique.
Jan will also allow his students to write their own parts as they progress on the kit by picking up either the guitar or bass and giving them the chance to jam with another instrument, which most students love to do and have a lot of fun with.
Lessons are held with two drum kits so students can easily copy their teachers movements.
Learning an instrument in a music recording studio environment has many advantages and is a lot more fun, creative and rewarding. From your teacher jumping on different instruments for you to develop your independence and timing as a player and recording prepared projects you've been working on, to playing at a higher volume to get to know your gear's real sound, the rocking' memories you'll walk away with will fuel your inspiration to practice and improve fast. My focus is to help you achieve your goals on your instrument. With each individual student, I offer exercises, songs and techniques to practice that will help you to immediately begin seeing positive results. I believe that anyone can play an instrument and take their next step in music. It makes a big difference if you
I grew up in Minnesota and started playing guitar when I was 13. Self-taught for three years, I developed a passion and love for music. Upon turning 16, I expanded my knowledge studying with a local guitarist, a musical genius in my opinion, who made a huge impact on my playing. In the fall of 2007 I relocated to Los Angeles to attend Musicians Institute for guitar performance. I graduated in 2009 Over the course of the last nine years I've been a part of six different live performing bands and currently work with my original band comprised entirely of Musicians Institute graduates, Delphian. Delphian can be seen and heard featured on screen in the Mike Judge film “Extract”. I study, perform and have vast knowledge in the styles of blues, classical, country, folk, jazz, metal and ...

Sometimes certain techniques or exercises can be tiresome or even boring. When this occurs, I switch gears and ...
