Kyungee M.

About Kyungee

I have been first trained as a professional opera singer as a child in Korea. For many years, I have performed on stage. When I came to America, I have continued to pursue education in voice (and piano) at Troy University and at Baptist College of Florida while seeking other degrees.

In addition to my main focus on vocal training, I am professionally trained to play instruments such as piano, guitar, flute, and violin. I have learned to play piano and guitar to initially accompany my own singing, but I have continued to study these instruments to this day. I have been a main church pianist
, wedding pianist, collaboration pianist, and etc. For flute and violin, I have been a member of ensemble groups and orchestra (and symphonic band) and performed on various occasions.

These training has allowed me to start a music academy in Korea from 1990-1996. There, I have taught all the instruments I have learned: piano, violin, cello, flute, guitar, and voice. It started small, but it grew rapidly and before I came to US in 1996, I had over 250 students. I had hired 6 more teachers, one for each division. My students came as beginners and would leave as educated musicians, who entered competitions, performed in public events and at concerts, and sought degrees in music.

In US, I had a small music studio for many years in Alabama. My students have entered AMTA competitions for state of Alabama, sonata competitions, and many others. Some have won, and others have lost. Those who won smiled and those who lost cried, but all returned with good experiences.

Now in Georgia, I am starting to teach again. I hope to offer my new students same amount of care and education borne out of experience that I have provided for many, many years.

*** Lesson Details ***
Teaching is my passion. I have taught music for over 20 years to students of all ages, of all backgrounds, and of various levels of training. When I teach, I want to make sure that my students are enjoying the process of creating music.

Learning something new, or continuing the education may be difficult or frustrating at times. This may encourage students to give up prematurely. However, when learning is a fun experience, students can learn to truly appreciate the joy of music. I can offer you with this opportunity.

My lessons will typically consist of 3 main sections: music theory, practice (on instrument of choice), and art of performance. The degree of introductions to these will vary depending on the interest and the training level of the student. I may be using Suzuki or other curriculums that are organized and appropriate to the student's learning curve. I will accommodate the musical needs of everyone.

In terms of teaching style, I am patient, friendly, and accommodating. I like to enjoy each lessons with my students, so I will be smiling alot. It'll be a minimally stressful environment.

If you would like to have me as your music instructor, please feel free to ask for me and we'll get started on our musical journey together.

My grandson's best piano teacher

My grandson loves Mrs. Kyungee style of teaching. She is nice and knowledgeable, inspiring, and friendly. She is the right person to teach my grandson. Her passion for music is contagious. She inspires confidence and hard work which is the road to success.
Her daughter is her legacy. At the end of the my grandson's first piano lesson her daughter was gracious to play for us. Her performance was so impressive that it brought tears to my eyes.
I want to thank both of them from the bottom of my heart!

Kelly H.

Marietta, GA

I teach flutists of every age age and level. In the beginning I like to ask each student what their goal is so that we can work towards that, whether it is to become first chair in band, make All-State, play for Solo & Ensemble, perform with their church, or to just have fun and learn a new skill. In my lessons, I use positive reinforcement and encourage regular practice.

For beginning students who are school age, I use the Rubank Method for Flute as well as Pares Scales. Once they have become more advanced I assign more challenging etude and scale books. When the student has a grasp of the instrument, I present solo repertoire and orchestral excerpts tailored for each level. I try to keep each student's goals, ability, age, and interests in mind when choosing music to keep the lessons engaging and fun!

About Kelly

Kelly has taught private flute lessons for 10+ years from beginning to advanced skill levels and children to adults. She has also helped with marching and concert bands as a woodwind instructor in various schools.

Kelly was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. She started taking flute lessons at the age of 12 under the instruction of Betsy Hudson-Traba, principal flutist of the Sarasota Orchestra. Throughout high school, she played in Sarasota’s youth orchestra program and was a winner of the Young Artist Competition. She also won first chair flute in All-State multiple times. With
a solid foundation in flute playing, she went on to study with Eva Amsler at the Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor of Music in flute performance. She had a lot of wonderful playing opportunities here and as an undergraduate was playing in the top orchestra. Kelly was a member of the “world renown” Marching CHIEFS, where she served as section leader to 50 plus flutes. One of the more unique ensembles she participated in was the Andean ensemble, Aconcagua, where she played the zampona (panpipes) and the quena (Andean flute). Kelly decided to go abroad for graduate school earning her Master’s at a small conservatory in beautiful Lugano, Switzerland called the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana. She studied under Italian flutists, Mario Ancillotti, Stefano Parrino, and Giovanni Crola. She had many opportunities to pursue her love of traveling and work on her foreign language skills! After heading home to the States Kelly began her freelance career substituting in various orchestras in Florida including the Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet Orchestra, and the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. She now lives in Marietta, Georgia where she teaches privately and freelances. In addition to music, Kelly loves spending time with family, friends, and her adorable kitties (Ron & Harry) and dog (Leia). She also enjoys reading, hiking, baking, organizing, and cleaning!

I specialize in flute and piccolo solo, orchestral, band, and chamber ensemble playing and also audition prep.

Miss Sasha (as my 5 year old calls her) is truly an awesome teacher. She is patient and knows exactly what she is doing! My son enjoyed the classes and when he had trouble with one instrument, she had no problem working with us, allowing him to try another. My only regret is that we could not continue the class. I recommend her for all levels of students!

I teach lessons on:
- Guitar

- Saxophone
- Bass Guitar
- Drums
- Flute
- Recording and Music Production
- Songwriting

*** Lesson Details ***
The goal of music lessons is not to just learn the notes and mechanics of an instrument, but to become a well-rounded MUSICIAN. With my lessons, we don't just go through a book page-by-page, rather, lessons are shaped around the musical tastes and interests of the student. Musical theory concepts are applied in actual songwriting and current popular songs. I accompany the students on various instruments, imitating a real performance situation. I teach all ages; beginners to advanced musicians.

Unlike a crowded music store with a cramped little room for lessons, my lessons are taught in a large, open, and well-lit home studio. There is an open waiting area where parents can listen as well. Parking is convenient on a cul-de-sac with a clear view into the teaching studio.

*** Studio Equipment ***

Aubry M.

Atlanta, GA

I teach students at a beginner level. Starting with flute fingerings, I begin with single notes, then move on to scales and simple pieces. My goal is to give students a foundation for a successful flute career, and to pass on the passion that I have for playing.

About Aubry

My name is Aubry, I am 17 years old, and am a junior at the Lovett School, as well as a musician. I play the flute, and began my career as a flautist in the third grade at Morris Brandon. I absolutely love playing, one of my dreams is to play in the orchestra at the college I end up attending and, hopefully, play in a professional orchestra. I would love to pass on the passion that I have for playing on to a young new beginner or someone with a little experience. I am nothing close to a professional, but I have worked with children just learning how to play at Lovett. During my free periods, I
would help my band directors, Stutz Wimmer, Charissa Gransden, and Garett Arrowood, teach the 5th grade beginners simple patterns, articulations, and scales.

I constantly try to improve my playing in my free time, either finding advanced pieces of music to practice, or listening to composers such as Dvorak and Tchaikovsky to learn different styles of playing.
